Old 1911 help.

Hi all.
We don't see many old ones over here, but a friend has one that I want to help Identify.
Sorry, no pics yet.
Left side of slide seems standard with all the patent stuff and the Colt Hartford and the Colt horse above the safety.
There is an "R" at the rear left of the trigger guard.
Bottom of the grip and the mag both have Lanyard loops.
There is a "J" on the barrel near the link.
Right side of frame above trigger has Government Model over the serial number "C860x".
In front of the ejection port is Colt Automatic over Caliber .45.

Sounds like a Commercial gun. Colt slide at least and with the number, I think frame too. The lanyard loop magazines are a premium value by themselves. Gun was made maybe 1912...caliber .45 ACP which is standard. Love some pics if you can manage it.

Colt Government Model C 860X would probably have been produced in 1914. Original finish would have been bright charcoal blue, but not the mirror polish of the earlier pistols. The R described on the left rear of trigger guard was the final inspector. Look carefully at the barrel to see if there is a P on the chamber where it shows through the ejection port, and look at the back of the barrel hood and under the barrel (below the feed ramp) for additional initials.
