Interesting occurrence today at my Walmart, they had not had any of the
.22LR 550 rd value packs ($14.00) in stock for a while, but today had one out on display. So I asked about them, and the clerk said they did not know when they would ever get any more in, but he was keeping severl boxes hidden under the counter "so everybody could have a chance to get some". I bought 2 and said it was all I needed and thanked him.

There hasn't been any 550 packs here in the southwest part of Virginia for about three weeks now. I called about eight Walley World stores yesterday and ended up with five Winchester 333 packs and five 100 rd. boxes. Department mgr. said this was the end of the line as far as any bulk shipment. No 9mm,45,40,or 357 sig. I can't believe you have to cut back on .22 shooting now. Think this is straight scoop from mgr. as they all had same story ref. ammo.

I bought a box last week at a Walmart in central Indiana. He didn't mention a shortage.

I am sure glad my son and I put away a lifetime supply of Russian Junior Brass target ammo couple of years ago. That ammo has same accuracy as Eley 10X at 1.39 abox.

Both WallyMarts here are out of all ammo. except "premium" hunting ammo.
I asked about the bigger packs of .22 LR and was told to the effect of that, "... when any decent priced ammo. comes in, it lasts about 15 minutes and is all gone..."
I bought a box CCI "Stingers", but left a couple boxes behind.

Federal has changed some of their packaging recently - for instance, a brick of American Eagle may be 400 rounds, not the traditional 500 rounds.
FWIW; AFAIK; IMHO; YMMV; yadda, yadda, yadda.

I thought that the problem with .22 ammo at walmart was only here in MICHIGAN. I have been to 3 walmart's and they all don't have any .22 value packs in stock. Not any brand at all. I didn't check on the 50 or 100 round boxes. The clerks give me the same answer that they are on back order. Now I am begining to wonder what is going on. I have been buying remington 550 round value packs there for years for plinking, hunting, and targer practice. I hope this is not a corporate decision not to sell ammo. A few years back here in my home town, K MART quit selling firearms and ammo. I, and a lot of other out door sportsman don't go there any more and their business really dropped off. From what I see, they mite as well close it up.

It is a bit more common in around Denver lately - no guarantees, though. I think floorboards are starting to buldge up now. I did see one guy at WalMart shell out $648 for all the .45 ACP they had. It is either going under floor boards or to a gun show in a couple weeks. I stopped at a WalMart in a small southern Colorado town a couple weeks ago. The clerk said they were "really low and out of a lot of stuff." The only real lack was 30-30. I bought 2 boxes of Federal Auto Match and left at least 10. Great fun, what?

I don't know how it compares to the Federal .22 LR Value Pack but I just left making visits at the hospital and saw a new shop that had opened. They had CCI .22 LR Blaser ammunition for $17.00/500. Is this good ammunition? When I went to WalMart yesterday afternoon they only had the .22 LR ammo in the 50 rd. boxes priced about $2.99/box. If the CCI Blazer .22LR is as good as the Federal, Winchester, etc., then I guess I'll go back to the shop and buy a few boxes. Odd thing is that no one seems to have .38 Special but I can find .357 Magnum at about $25.00/box. It doesn't make sense. Sincerely. Bruce.

Blaser is good plinking ammo, accurate enough for a good time.
