A guy at the club today gave me a couple 30 rounders. One SEY and one IU in a circle. The construction, tool marks and welds of these are identical as well as the color so I assume these are the 1960's fakes and they came from the same factory. I am not sure if i should buy them for me or sell them for him any thoughts on value?
If any one had a pic of the angle cut versus square cut construction of these that would be great because I read two articles on these and I am really confused now!. :sos:

There's a reason why people give away 30 round magazines. If they are not original USGI, they're not worth 10 bucks in my opinion.

I dug thru my mags and figured out the diffrence, I actually had one USGI one and I see the angle cut now. He is a old timer and asked me to figure out what they are worth and sell them for him. Now I have to tell him they are original reproductions!

I found the article in a 1998 carbine club newsletter about them. Very interesting history, says faking these goes back to 1963.

I've got one with no marks other than "Made in USA" that I've had for good while, but never used it. Do these repro's, as general rule, not function well?

i had a made in usa marked one, then would never fully feed reliably, and would always jam near the bend. i tossed it, and have been using usgi 15 rounders ever since.

Carbine Club newsletter 332 written by Bill Ricca and JB Powers. About as thorough an article as you can get on 30 round magazines. Seven pages.
