i have a US Springfield trapdoor rifle in 45/70 stamped US model 1873. there's a cartouche on the left side of the stock above the trigger. the metal is in prestine condition with no rust or pitting and the wood is also in excellent condition with just a few minor nicks and dings but no cracks. can anyone provide a good guess as to the value of this rifle.

pictures are very helpful but an "excellent" antique condition trapdoor with a crisp clean shiny bore would be at least 800 dollars and would go up from there.
OR, you can simply compare your rifle to this one being sold by Mark Wiprud and see how high it goes.

Hmmm, the sling is quite a bit newer than the rifle, since its for an 03.
Trapdoor slings have only one claw.
