Hey guys,

Got the camera back where I like it. Took fifty photos today. Got a handful of good ones. Here's a few. Will post more later. Will break the rifle down tonight and do a data sheet so I can post details on parts. If I'm boring ya'll let me know.

Hey Cary,

Thanks, heart skipped a beat when I saw your post's intro. Wondered if one of the experts was gonna' say that this rifle is a reblue. Sure it's not.

Disassembled the rifle again tonight after taking photos this afternoon so I could do a data sheet.

Almost all of the small parts are Winchester. Only three Eddystone parts. All of the large parts are Remington except for the buttplate, it is all Winchester and blued as all of the rifle's metal is. Oh.....two large parts are Winchester, the stock and the rear handguard.

Bore and crown are perfect.

Looks really nice Lance, bluing looks pretty good too.
It looks like your safety is broken, in the first photo the safety is on but I don't see the head of the striker out the back of the shroud?

The bluing on my M1917 looks almost as good as yours and I'v seen lots of M1917's and M1903's that the bluing is good .They knew how to do things back then and if taken care of not even time seems to bother them.

Wow, a Very Nice M1917 Remington! Congrats!

I have a "first full month of production" Eddystone that is an arsenal Post WWI rebuild, #15,xxx, with a 1919 Winchester barrel and bolt, mixed small parts, Eddystone stock. Unfortunately mine appears to have recieved a refinish in black parkerizing, after a light sand blasting. Still quite attractive, but not the pretty blue of your rifle. I grabbed mine because of the low serial number and likelyhood that it was used "Over There", having needed a rebuild in less than two years! Thanks for sharing - that finish sure looks "vintage" to me!

Hey Cary,

Wouldn't dare change a thing about the rifle. It's a nice rearsenal with a lot of very good things. I never restore. But might buy whatever screws that are available, mine work but they are not pretty. I'd buy screws just because they seem to be available, and they ain't makin'em anymore.

Only things will add will be a good bayonet, scabbard, and a Kerr sling if I ever find a nice real one.

Thats what I need is a Kerr sling and a sharp thing for the front end.I'm running a nice M1907 sling .I'm never happy, just like having more stuff .Oh you can fix the screws pretty easy just take them out clamp them in wood in a vise then use a small hammer an tap down the bad edges then file or saw a new slot then sand and clean it good and use some cold blue or heat with a torch till it starts to change to a blue color and dip it in oil. DONE
