Today I received an email from AIA, Australian International Arms, maker of the M10 series of Enfield clone rifles.
Anyone who owns an AIA rifle or wants to pls contact me and I'll forward you the PDF's he sent.
I personally own two AIA rifles, a No 4 Mk 4 and an M10 B2. Both are gorgeous rifles.

<Hello, Tom,

Sorry about the delay in replying, the Festive season is not called the
Silly Season in Australia for nothing!

All our rifles are proof tested: each barrel is subjected to pressure
testing in a firing fixture, then the barreled action is subjected to a
single proof round. Proof cartridges are custom loaded Mil Spec
equivalents. Barrels passing inspection after proof are marked with a
code letter just forward of the breech thread of the barrel; it is
sometimes covered by the barrel lock nut. The letter "P" on the right
side of the breech ring is the acceptance stamp applied after
inspection
following the testing of the barreled action. This procedure is applied
to both the 7.62 x 39 and 7. 62 NATO models.

I have attached the most recent editions of the users manuals in as
PDFs. I would appreciate any user feedback on content, clarity or other
issues.

Happy shooting.

Not from me unfortunately...I haven't fired mine yet...

I did read that in Australia they had something of a torture test going with a professional hunter or something of the like...thousands of rounds fired. Details very sketchy.

Those guns would look exceptional hanging in my gun locker! I have just never seen Commonwealth rifles in the condition. Those re-builds that hit the market around 10 years back are close, but, not quite as nice. SDH

Guys if you want to see a really good one then check out one of the M10's I customised. I love these guns!! They are absolutely bombproof and exceptionally well made, I have never ever had a failure to feed, extract or eject ever!!

While I'm sure that's the going style in australia, I tend to prefer the wood look on my Enfields, not wood made to look like plastic. Here in North America if we want plastic furniture, we buy an AR15. Of course, I know the situation is different in OZ where the left of center politicians have ensured you can't be trusted with black furnitutured target rifles so I imagine it makes more sense there.

I also had a look at the pics of his guns...I must say that although they look good I do prefer the way they come new. I've never seen nicer wood on anything other than high grade furniture, can't imagine covering it up.

Claven,

No people deffinitely like the traditional wood look for sure, but that gun is designed for business, it was built for a purpose!! I have two M10s the other one is an as new M10-A2 in the plain teak finish. The carbine in the picture is specifically built for tough Australian hunting conditions. It is a truck gun in the truest sense! I use it for feral animal control on pigs, goats and wild dogs, it is far tougher than any AR15 will ever be I know I owned some of em in the days when you could in this country even when I had my AR15's I still thought they sucked compared to AAA SAR and SAC which were Aust made improved versions of the AR180 action. The other advantage is I can buy lots of cheap Norinco ammo for this gun and I also reload factory brass according to my use. Copper washed Norinco is much better by far than all that Wolf stuff, we can still buy plenty of Norinco as it is not banned for import in Australia like it is in the US. By the way that comment about wood made to look like plastic is pretty ignorant! The fact is that it is Duracoat which is a bombproof coating that seals out moisture and protects the woodwork from damage due to rough handling in the field. The teak is tough but the Duracoat makes it even tougher, it will also offer protection to scopes etc.. Duracoat is an American product have you not heard of it? I know there are like a lot of collectors out there who have a bunch of safe queens in their gun lockers and sometimes take them out to shoot on a sunny day but this ain't one of em. Re the politics left of centre?? For your information it was the Right Wing most conservative modern day Government in Australia that introduced the new gun laws, our PM you should know him cause he is George Bush's biggest admirer he is the Prime Minister John Howard. I feel it is a real shame that the M10 was never widely released in the US and not likely to be cause in reality I actually think for day to day hunting, shooting, survival and feral critter control it is a far more practical and useful gun than the Ar's and AK clones and I'm sure that if US shooters had the opportunity to own them they would have found this out.

Now I'm confused? Ontario? "Here in North America" You are from Canada or US? When you started making references to AR15's I thought you are a Yank? Cause in Canada you pretty much got all your Assault Rifles taken off you / seriously restricted didn't you???

Hi Aussie,

I'm sorry - I really didn't mean to offend you! I don't think you M10 looks bad, I just prefer wood personally. I realize you have your own motivations to paint your rifle and that's fine - our differences make us interesting to each other ;)

Yes, I know duracoat - I put it on Remington Express shotguns to make them handle wet weather without rusting :)

I live in Canada, but the AR-15 is available everywhere in Norht American except for amybe Mexico? the AR-15 is not an assault rifle as it is not select fire like an M16. It's a restricted weapon in Canada meaning you cannot hunt with it, but you can use it at ranges no problem.

As for the politics of Australia, well, it's a bit off topic here and I should not have mentioned it so again I apologize. I do realize the Howard gov't landed your undesireable gun laws on sportsmen in your country and for that I sympathize. That being said, I hear Oz is a Wonderful place to live. Please enjoy the forums!

Tom,
Your B2 is blued? I assumed they all came parkerized like the Mk4.

Notice much difference in accuracy between the two models?

Oh yeah, it's blued. I think the No 4 Mk 4 is the only parkerized one. I love the looks of it...
BTW, I just swapped my B2 for a parked 50 Long Branch...;) It was still unfired...I have too many rifles right now that I haven't fired yet but that will be rectified as soon as it warms up a trifle...

Top of the list to be tried out- the Brit No 4 Mk I T I recently bought...(with no scope-I have a repro mount)
