Type 99 Arisaka Vet Bring Backs

I have a friend who served in the Pacific during WWII and he sent home three (3) Arisaka Type 99 rifles plus two swords and a bayonet. A few months back he stopped at my home on his way to Florida for the winter and gave the rifles and bayonet to me. They were still in the boxes that he sent them home in. They were in his basement where he lived and were a challenge to clean up. I have some before and after pics. I have more pics but will not post unless you all are interested. I can also give the story behind them. I was chatting with him last night (I am in Florida for the winter also) and he told me a few more things about his experiences. What a super deal for a mil surp collector. :super:

The bayonet cleaned up like new also. The last two pics are the after clean up and I put them back in the original boxes for pics.

Those are great and they will be saved from Bubba. I picked up a nice type 99 at Webster Fl. Flea Market last year and a wood handle bayo for my M1 Carbine.
Wife and I are going to our home in Leesburg Fl to see the Leesbrg Bike Fest (200.000 + bikers) at the end of April....

Forgot. Could you post some images of the sword? I am developing an interest in them. You will need to take the tang covering off an see if there is any maker markings. I may be able to get them translated.

Sorry, both swords are gone. I have only the three rifles and bayonet.

There was one (1) vet bringback "not defaced" at the last gunshow at KCI a couple of weeks ago the had the paperwork from 1944 signed by a Capt.

I was tempted to think twice about the $700 price tag....:eek:

It looks as though you are very fortunate to have some nice examples ( the zaniness of the current gun market will probably hit WW II Japanese rifles as well).

Very nice...! Way cool to get three from the guy who actually brought/sent them home. I picked up my first Arisaka last month along with a type 90 helmet with full chinstraps and Kanji on the straps and bayonet for the Arisaka. The Arisaka had a nice M1 Carbine sling on it. Paid $1000 for the whole lot. I got lucky, the mum on my rifle was not ground off. The story was a Marine brought it home from the war. The guy I purchased it from bought it off of the Marines sister after he passed away. I won't shoot it because it is a late war rifle and from what have I read it is a good idea not to shoot the late ones. Chris
