Very nice, I have never seen another one like this. Looks to be in excellent condition, awesome shotgun. Would have been a nice shotgun to carry!

here are a couple of different butt and forearms, both equally correct.

First run of serial numbers, before they started replacing broken and worn wood. Note the matte black finish on the receiver while the rest of the gun is parked. Later guns, and reworked guns, displayed the grey parked receiver.

Anyone ever see one of these for the M5 style bayonet? I am currently trying to sell one of the shrouds for those but can find NO info on them anywhere.
US Military Trench Gun Shroud/Heat Shield - eBay (item 180383889941 end time Jul-26-09 09:44:22 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=180383889941)
If nothing else, it could be used to make up a nice representative piece. I put it on my Sears 200 shotgun (made by Winchester, a copy of the 1200) but the barrel was too long so it did not look right. Otherwise I might have just found me a M5 bayonet and kept it.
I am still looking for a pic or any info on the legitimate Vietnam era or later use of the shroud for the M5 bayonet if anyone has any......

These bayonet lugs/heatshields were destined for use by ARVN (Marvin the ARVN) on Stevens 77E shotguns. Most never made it to the RVN before the collapse and takeover by Uncle Ho's forces. The remainder were sold on the commercial police supply market. A friend of mine got 10 out of an Ohio PD a while back; they were bought for use on Rem 870s after the Watts riots. FWIW.

SGT ROCK that is a great example of a Winchester M1200 trench gun. I am currently working on a retro shotgun project which involves a model 1200 from 1965. I was able to source the stock and forearm for this project but unfortunately can't find the sling swivel/attachment for the stock. The heat shield with bayonet attachment can be bought as a reproduction and comes "in the white."
