I am looking for info on the Italian black powder gun manufacturers, Pietta vs. Uberti vs. Euroarms vs. any others, in particular regarding a Remington-type revolver. Do they all come out of the same factory? Or are there differences in quality between these? Any advice/opinions appreciated. Thanks, GasMan.

I cant say much about the revolvers. I know there is a huge weight difference between euro arms and armisport rifles. I know years ago euro arms were better built than armi sport, but armisport looked more authentic looking in contours ect. Havent gotten a repro in about 10 years, so no idea how their quality is these days.

I had uberti 1860 colt army, 1858 remington army, and a colt navy. All were well made and very reliable. Never seen a euro arms made one, but know they did make them at one point. Pietta, I just heard through the grape vines that they wernt as rugged or reliable as uberti, but thats just hearsay and not from experiance.

Over the years, I've owned many reproduction black powder firearms including both original and modern version of Colt revolvers. Uberti guns were always high quality in fit, finish and smooth mechanical action. A few years ago, according to rumor, Colt black powder reproduction guns had essential components made by Uberti. To my knowledge, this was not verified.

For a time, I had two Dragoon .44 caliber revolvers made by Colt and the other a Uberti. Genuine Colt revolvers originally had a light grey-blue case color on the frame and hammer. Side by side, the Uberti versions are nearly identical to the modern Colt pistols. Check out the frame color of the Uberti made gun in the picture below!

Whenever coming across a used black powder reproduction pistol, I always check for the Uberti logo with the letter " U " within wreath. After discussing this, I now have the urge to go out and get a nice 3rd model dragoon by Uberti. :beerchug:

Somehow the photo in the previous posting disappeared. Here's another of a Uberti Colt replica 3rd Model Dragoon revolver. Note the greyish blue case hardening color on frame and loading lever. Both the recent Colt reproductions as well as original guns had case colors much the same. I personally like the touch of correctness. The Uberti versions are very high quality in fit, finish and action.
