View Full Version : Rock River Arms Question
Shot my new RRA LAR-15 yesterday and noticed a large bulge in the empty cases about quarter inch above the rim. The barrel is a 20 inch NM stainless steel. My Bushmaster does not do this so is this normal for a RRA?

Doesn't sound normal to me. My RRA doesn't do that; I suspect a mis-reamed chamber, or an over-pressure load. Any chance of a picture?
Me and cameras just don't go well together. I was using standard Remington and Winchester loads.
The barrel has a Wylde chamber and it looks like I will have to send it back to RRA.
Thanks for the response.

Bren,
If the bulge is 1/4" in front of the rim, that places the bulged area within the chamber.
I'm sure that RRA will want several of the fired cases returned with the upper.

I would send it back pronto..
I bought one of the early RRA NM uppers back in 2000, and it was ripping the rims off brass, front sight was off center and had other issues, I sent it back, and they sent me a new upper. Also had 2 NM triggers replaced by them, but these 2 have held up well for 6 years now.
Talked to the people at RRA and they gave me an RMA number. The rifle will be shipped out tomorrow.
I wonder if they will send me a Bushmaster? Just dreaming.

They'll make it right. I've been selling RRA products for 10 years now, and have seen but a few issues. For products built by humans it's been pretty impressive.

Still waiting.
The only respnse to my questions from RRA is "I have no idea".
Guess what guys? I'm still waiting.

I like RRA but the wait right now is crazy. I can see it for a new purchase/order,but for something that a customer already has and it has issues, there should be no waiting, you already did that.
I've got 2 complete RRA lowers waiting patiently for uppers, one was ordered/paid for back in January, was just told July/August on that one. The second upper I just ordered this month, probably won't see that until December or January.
I have a friend who bought and paid for one of their .308 rifles back in March 08 and still has not got anything!! That's getting near 16 months and still no rifle. I know things are crazy but that is just absurd. I'd get my money back and get something else but he has'nt done that yet.
I handed this problem off to my son as he is not as tollerant with customer service as I am. He called last Thursday and spoke to a manager and was informed that they are waiting for barels to arrive from Wilson. Hopefully something might happen soon.

It finally arrived. RRA say they replaced the barrel and as soon as the temperature drops below 95, which may take a few weeks, I will test it out.

That was a quick turn around. Let us know how it does.

I will remind everyone that has vendor issues to take a look at a calendar.....it's the end of June, a time when every real shooter's heart turns to thoughts of Camp Perry....the vendors too! Don't be terribly surprised if things are slow until the end of August! Want it faster? Come to the show! HP starts the end of July.
