Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone has the recipe for Culver's paste? I think it was equal parts of Bees wax, BLO, and mineral spirits but I'm not too sure about the mineral spirits. Also does this stuff ever go bad or get old once the batch is mixed? Thanks for any help.

i've used 1/3, BLO,1/3 melted beeswax and 1/3 turps with okay results. not on garands but on mausers. i would just stick to plain BLO , RLO or tung on on garands, myself. i have had to add a little turps to the brew (also double boiled it again)from time to time.

I purchased one of those empty quart paint cans at Lowe's. Divided and marked the can in 1/3's. Put the can with some beeswax in it, in boiling water just removed from the stove. Added beeswax until I reached the first mark, then added BLO the next 1/3 and finally turpentine the last 1/3. Mixed with a stirring stick and let sit to harden. One can will probably last the rest of my life. When I work a divot in the paste, or it looks like it's starting to settle out of solution, I just sit in a can of hot water, stir and let harden again. Hasn't 'gone bad' yet and I've had the can for about 3 years.
