I have an SA 1903 it is very clean and a well done sport model (not NRA)with peep sight on the back and blade in front. barrel is marked SA with a bomb and 2-20.
I am thinking of putting it back in mill spec. so the main thing is how hard is the rear sight collar to install?
Thanks

not that hard, if you have the tool i make that drives it on, without destroying the sight base,
a pin at the rear, and from right to left holds in place.

I have one of Chuck's tools, and it is great! It is well worth the price, and simplifies an aggravating job.

I did one recently, and just wet or dry'd the inside of the collar so that it would slip on without too much force, and then soft soldered it into position, lining up the marks while she's hot. Can't see any visible solder, and even put the pin in.

base should not be heated, welded, glued or otherwise.
it is a press fit, on an orginal 03 barrel.
it simply presses on from the muzzle end, and held fast with 2 pins.
i dont recomend modification of an A3 barrel to fit the 03 sight base..
unless its done right it will have play, and will likely move.
if it had to be heated, or soldered, it wasnt done right..
