A far more modern milsurp, but still a milsurp.

I saw these for sale on AIMsurplus so I did some research. I couldn't find anything negative about them other than that they are "more complicated" than the older makarovs and tokarevs.

Well, I got mine today from my dealer.

First impression is that this gun feels rock solid. It is definitely heavy for its size, but it's probably damn near indestructible. I doubt it hurts felt recoil either.

Click PIC to Enlarge

Came with two 12 rounds mags, and a leather holster.

Minimal wear on the gun itself, bore looks about new. The dots on the sights on mine are gone.

The grips fit my hand just about perfectly - I have big hands (6'4" / 275lbs ) so I was worried a smaller gun like this might be a bad fit, but it is not. I am very pleased with the way it fits in my hand.

Unfortunately, I must reserve shooting impressions for a later date. :(

I tried searching for other threads related to the CZ-82 but couldn't find anything- I know some of you have them, let's hear about them!

Hi Guys,

I'm the new editor of the Canadian Firearms Journal. It is the membership magazine of the National Firearms Association. As a milsurp lover myself, I've always wanted to add more milsurp content and photos to the magazine when I was still just a reader.

As editor I'm now in a position to change that. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do the in-depth research and take quality photos that are required for a milsurp/firearms heritage feature.

If you'd like to try your hand at writing an article for the magazine, I'm now accepting unsolicited submissions. Preference will be given to Canadian firearms heritage type articles. Length should be around 1100-1200 words. If the story is really good, I have some wiggle room for longer articles up to 2000 words. If it is really, really good we can make it a two-parter!:)

Submissions should be MS Word (preferably) or text format that MS Word can easily convert.

Please spell check and do basic typo edits before submitting.

Quality photos are a big bonus. Min. 300 dpi standard, but the higher the resolution the better for publication purposes.

Some monetary compensation will be paid, wholly based on length and quality of the work and whether photos are included, etc... Compensation is only made if article is actually published.

Submissions can be sent to me at cfjeditor@gmail.com of natvpc@nfa.ca I prefer the Gmail account.

Thanks for your time!

Hello All
This is my first post and I will probably make a few mistakes due to inexperience. I am sorry about that. If I do things halfway right there should be some pictures here. I have been told this is a Model 1909 Argentine Mauser. I have cleaned it up a lot. Pictures of the Model 1909 show a stock to the end of the barrel. This has a short stock. It appears sound. On the left side I believe I see 7 mm. What are your thoughts of this rifle. The rifling is excellent. What would I need for scope mounts. I am in Brownsburg In. Does this rifle have any value? My new message states pictures exceed limits. As an old man novice I am stuck.

Not sure if this is the right forum, just found this site today, so please feel free to move this post, or let me know where to go.

Just recently I inherited a riffle from my father. It has been passed down through our family. The claim is that it was brought back from WWII by my grandfather, who supposedly took it off a dead German soldier. Since my grandfather is no longer with us, I really cannot validate the story.

I am trying to figure out what type of gun this is, and where I can learn more of the history behind it. I know it shoots 8mm Mauser rounds. It also has an eagle holding a swastika stamp in many places on the gun. It is a bolt action, and the rounds are placed in the top, when the bolt is pulled back, I believe it holds 5 rounds total. There are many part numbers stamped in, as well as what looks to be German writing.

Any clues as to what type if gun this maybe? Or where I could go to do some research?

I grabbed this Sten bayonet a few years ago ( $50 ) and I've tried reading as much as I could find, and viewed as many pictures as there were. But there doesn't seem to be any definitive place to find out exactly what does a real bayonet look like. I've seen a few repros, and they appear fairly obvious that they were in fact reproductions. And to be fair, most of the guys were selling them as such. But I still can't find anything, especially on the web, that shows what a real Sten bayonet should look like.

I understand they are a rare item, and have heard a bit of the tale of them being destroyed long ago, but I can't find a pic of any that have been determined to be real.

I can't tell from the welds, stampings, etc what a real one should look like.

Obviously any further information is appreciated fellas! I practice my SMG charges in my basement.

This one is stamped along the retention spring - B&J S.L.
Along the body - B&J ******

Hello All, I've had this belt since 1967 when it was given to me after helping a friend move from one house to another. His father had brought it back as one of several spoils of war. I actually wore this all through college from '69-'73 and was asked about it only once in that time. It's been sitting in my closet for decades while my belly grew larger. It won't fit me again until some time after I'm dead and "shrunk" from that process. So I'm interested in selling it but ask the folks on this forum to suggest a value for it. Condition remains in good to very good. Leather and threads are strong but leather surface is checked and the belt is not as supple as it once was. It's date stamped 1937 and also stamped "Friedrich Keller" & "Oberstein". Any suggestions as to value? I hope this is not the wrong forum or an inappropriate question. If so I'll delete it. Many thanks, Dave

Due to current circumstances, sadly, I will be selling most of my WW2 collection.

To view my collection, follow this link to Robert’s Collection and use “collector” as the password.

Once there, select an album (i.e. WW2 1911A1’s) on the left hand side. I am not selling any of my class 3 items.

Everything including the accessories shown in the photos will be up for auction.

I am a member of the Ohio Gun Collectors Association and have always gone to most of the larger gun shows like Louisville but I haven't been able to go in the past couple of years. I would appreciate any input from anyone regarding current values.

Since I’m somewhat out of touch with current values, I do intend to sell everything at auction. However, if anyone is interested in any particular piece of my collection, let me know and I will inform you when & where I place it up for auction.

Thanks very much for any advise, information or help, Bob

Ever wonder where that Russian Mosin Nagant rifle you own have may been?

You might be interested to know that a documentary has been made about "a little known chapter in U.S. history. At the end of World War I, thousands of soldiers from Michigan were sent to Russia. There they endured a severe winter and bloody battles against Communist troops."

The Michigan PBS schedule can be found on the official documentary web site link: Voices of a Never Ending Dawn.

The first airing is Sunday Nov. 8, 2009 at 3:00pm on WTVS Channel 56 in Detroit, with airings coming to other parts of the state over the next few months.

The documentary has also been picked up by PBS and will air nationally in 2010.

This link is to a story about it in my local (Livonia, MI) newspaper:
Documentary on WWI Polar Bears features 2 Livonia men | hometownlife.com | the Observer & Eccentric Newspapers and Hometown Weeklies

If you have ever been to the Detroit Zoo, you may have seen the plaque about these soldiers near, of course, the polar bear exhibit there. I believe there is also a memorial somewhere in the Troy, MI area.

In the June 2008 issue of The American Rifleman magazine, Bruce Canfield wrote about the Polar Bears. He mentioned that they were issued Mosin Nagant rifles! Not long ago, I purchased a Mosin Nagant rifle made by New England Westinghouse. Remington also made them. The rifle has marks indicating Russian, Finnish and perhaps German use. If only there was a way to show that it may have also served in the U.S. Army!

Depending on how many chores "she who must be obeyed" has for me, I hope to catch it this Sunday.
