Just wanted to say hello, I am in the process of saving and then buying a Springfield 1922 M2 just because, you know? I've done my research here and there with some good info from the CMP forum and some guys think they have a piece of gold for sale. I try talking to them and they say you don't know what your talking about because I saw one for sale for $2500.00 and that's what mine is worth. LOL I just wish them good luck.

This is my choice for a personal defense weapon. accurate, portable, powerful, in my hands, reliable. I just acquired a perfect reproduction holster/stock/carrier, cleaning tool rig. It duplicates my original. I tested it and shot a 12" group @ 100 yards off hand. The pistol and cartridge dates 1896. The cartridge is still in service and unsurpassed. here is my Mauser C-96 rig. No batteries needed... gary.

I am trading a U.S. WWII rifle that is on my C&R books for a U.S. WWII rifle with a gentleman in another state for the purpose of enhancing my collection. This is permissable per C&R rules. Correct?

My understanding is that since the other gentleman is not a license holder I would need to log my rifle off my C&R books and ship it to a FFL holder in his state for transfer to him. Correct?

My understanding is the since I am a C&R licensee that the other gentleman could send his rifle directly to me and the upon receipt of his rifle I would then log it into my books. Correct?

Are these points correct? Am I missing anything?

TIA for any assistance!

Hello, I have an Ithaca made 1911A1 with a Colt slide. I only found out yesterday that it wasn't really a Colt, and I'm trying to find out as much as I can about the weapon, including service history if possible.

The receiver is marked No 1262121, with the Proof P just beneath the Mag Release button, and the Inspector initials FJA just behind the trigger guard on left side. It has the 7 rib mainspring housing, and the HS barrel. The magazine is not marked anywhere at all, not a letter or number anywhere. There is a very faint mark I can't make out just behind the top of the right grip above the sear/disconnector pin. The slide is marked with Colt's 5 patent dates, the Horse, and their name and address. The proof P on the slide is a slightly different font and size than the one on the receiver. I am told the finish is called a "Parkerized" finish, it is sort of Olive Drab in color. The finish is well done, and uniform throughout the large parts, slightly darker and smoother on the pins and small parts, except the barrel and return spring plunger which are black.

I'm curious if this might be an armory rebuild, and if there is a way to find out who it was issued to, or where it was used.

Thank You,

I'm trying to find the best outdoor rifle range to use in the DC area. I know of a fair number of indoor ranges that can handle rifles, but with the weather getting nice, I'd like to be able to enjoy when taking a shooting day. Preferably within about a 40 minute drive of the city, but if its a very good range, I'm certainly willing to drive a bit for it!
Thanks!

Maybe this was asked and answered before but I was thinking about this the other day. I know Hollywood has stockpiles of certain things and that they often get rid of certain things after the movie is over.

Where do they get their guns, specifically the older ones, surplus, that aren't in production anymore. Do they have a massive stockpile or do they rent from someone who does.

A "Last of the Samarai" rifle was in my local gun shop for a time. They had paperwork on it. So they aren't keeping all of them.

With my interest growing, I'm planning to dig out my copy of Captain Corelli's Mandolin to see if the rifles are correct, especially for the Italians. I know they try to make the German, British and US rifles correct.

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong category, but I'm at a loss. I'm not entirely certain what this rifle it, despite the fact I feel I should know just at a glance. The barrel has be modified to be non-firing, and the owner claims it's military, but we're at a loss exactly what it is.
well here it is. I believe that all the markings are present in pictures.
At first I thought that this rifle had been messed with a lot.
It was coated with rust, as can be seen in the before pictures. after reading the information provided here on this website we are not so sure. yes we all know that the butt piece has been replaced... At first it looked like the barrel had been worked over...stock.. sights... bolt...
This rifle fits the specs listed on another thread here

* Berthier Carbine and Rifle Information *

( * Berthier Carbine and Rifle Information * )

Please note the 1934 info...

This carbine has MA T1935 ON THE BARREL
AND AF C or G AND ALSO A B IN A CRRCLE
F901 IS ALL OVERTHE GUN... APPEARING TO BE THE SERIAL NUMBER..RIGHT?... IT IS ON THE BOLT, RECEIVER, TRIGGER GUARD

ON THE SIDE OF THE RECEIVER IT HAS LE 1907 - 15 M MAS 34

ONE QUESTION I HAD ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION PROVIDED ..WAS THE FACT
THAT THE STOCK DID NOT HAVE A PLACE FOR A BAYONET.. THE FOREARM STOCK LOOKS FACTORY MADE WITH NO OTHER KINDS OF MARKS OR FINISH. iT LOOKS LIKE IT WAS MADE THIS WAY.

ALSO NOTE THE BOLT IS DIFFERENT THAT OTHERS...AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF RECENT TAMPERING TO THAT EITHER. AND ALSO NOTE THAT THE SERIAL NUMBER IS THERE.

SO gentleman.
Please have at it with your opinion as to just what we have here.
I believe this to be an early run of the
Fusil d'Infanterie Modèle 1907-1915 Modifié 1934 or simply “M.34”,

The length of barrel, sights, length of rifle are as they are stated on the other link.
And yes someone for goodness sakes let me know where I MIGHT BE ABLE TO AT LEAST GET ONE ROUND OF 7.5 X 54 AMMO.

Now i will try to post pictures. Please no one tell me I had a million dollar carbine until we cleaned it up a bit....

Thank You in advance for your help. A factory scope mount would be super... And some fo the stripper clips also....

We are pleased to announce the introduction of Milsurps Collector Talk Radio. Available Internet wide, this radio channel broadcasts 24 hours a day, providing music and talk radio programs relating to collecting military surplus firearms, equipment and accessories. The channel may be accessed directly from your computer and you're able to surf the net or read the forums, while listening at the same time. The broadcast is also available on mobile phones, tablet computers such as iPads, plus universally through all of the popular third party Internet radio applications such as Tunein and Apple iTunes, if you use it.

Besides military oriented interlude music, historical interviews with WW1/WWII veterans and talk programs hosted by expert collectors and authors, there's specific Canadian content such as Canadian Reload Radio and Canadian Service Conditions Radio. We also broadcast two regularly scheduled popular U.S. programs, Gun Guy Radio and the AR15 Channel.

We're looking for additional program hosts and help to grow the channel. For example, with over 22,000 members world wide, we'd like to have some of you from various geographic regions (country, state, province etc), host a monthly show that pertains to what's happening in your own locale in regards to collecting, guns shows, range events and other information that may be of general interest to fellow collectors. Perhaps you're a collector focusing on a specific genre of collectible firearm and you'd like to host a monthly or bi-monthly show to talk about your collection and answer emailed questions about your collection, or specific area of expertise?

It's not complicated and all you need is a computer with a microphone to record your show, which you email to us and then it's scheduled and aired for everyone.

Our community is getting smaller and the age demographic is getting older, so, if anyone would like to help us out and see if we can broaden collecting interest amongst the newer highly computer literate younger generation to get into our hobby, send me an email at badger@milsurps.com, so we can talk about it further.

For programming schedules and more information, click on the banner below.
Thanks for listening … :D

Regards,
Doug

ps: we also have a Milsurps Television channel in development…. ;)

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned my 1917 Berthier M16 rifle. It's in pretty darn good shape, non matching of course, stock seems to have been lightly sanded, serial numbers on both sides of the buttstock. This rifle is neither N marked or import marked. I understand very few of these rifles saw use during the Great War, and was just wondering where these rifles may have ended up after that little fracas. Does not appear to have any Polish marks on it, maybe went to an obscure French colony? If so, where in the world would it have been imported from? The non N marked receiver would suggest it escaped the massive 1927 overhaul of French rifles, would it not?
Have become very interested and appreciative of these rifles lately. They seem to be getting pretty scarce. Carbines seem to 'abound', but not the rifles.
Bought this one from a guy as he was walking into the gun show. He told me that he literally had no idea what kind of rifle it was. Bought it from him for one Benjamin Franklin. Figured I couldn't go wrong there!

I got a Sterling yesterday and i wonder which country it has been serving .The body is phosphated and it looks like there has never been paint on . I allways thought all the commercial sterlings have the wrinkle finish . It was made in 1973 and the barrel made by Sterling also .The trigger unit is made by ROF but it could be a replacement . It is the first Sterling with an S serialnumber i got anyway except the Mk 5 .If the first 1600 S serialnumbers have been used for the Mk 5 , this Sterling must be a realy early one ....

Picked up another Berthier Mle M16 rifle today, dated 1917. As usual, some friends of mine had to chime in with the usual "never been fired, only dropped once?" banter. I would like to take this opportunity to inform any of our French friends on here that here is at least one American, and a Southern one at that, who fully realizes that that is complete BS... Verdun during the First World War comes immediately to mind, not to mention the innumerable casualties suffered in other parts of that disaster. Let's not forget, either, that when it really comes down to it, had it not been for the French, my country just MIGHT have had lost our war for independence from the Brits.
I don't want to drag on with this, but I'm sure that some of our French members, if they are here, must get tired of this ridiculous image some of my fellow Americans have of them. I just wanted to take this opportunity to tell them that there is at least one Yank here who recognizes the hardship and sacrifice that nation has endured for quite a long time.
Sorry to rant, but have just about had it with the 'never fired, dropped once' crowd.

OK guys, please make a realistic estimate here.
We will suppose that a jungle carbine, in excellent condition, appearing to be used very little, complete with matching bolt and original canvas sheath, is worth $450.
What would it be worth with non matching #5 bolt?
What woud it be worth with non matching #4 bolt?

I took my CMP M1 Garand hunting on the last day of the season last year. Shot an antler-less buck (in TN counts as one of your daily limit of 3 does). I hunt for food, decorations are an afterthought.:) Still, he is a bit small. Shot at ~30 yards through brush after he tried sneaking behind me with a 150gr Hornady SST sitting on 48gr IMR4895.

Just recently bought a 1940 Russian svt 40 from a local gun store. Problem is the tip of the bullet gets stuck on the rim of the chamber preventing the bolt/bolt carrier from moving forward. I cleaned the magazine, lubricated it with the same result. The mag doesn't wobble, stays secure in the gun. Using serbian made NON corrosive ammo. Thoughts?

thanks. Also here's an image to better show the problem.

First day of a Norfolk, Virginia, USA gun show. Not a single Garand offered. For that matter, I didn't see an M1903 or an M1917. That was amazing and a first for me. There were a couple of Carbines and one booth had SMLEs. Didn't see any Kar98ks either. It was kind of strange. There was ammo of most types though some were in limited supply. My son couldn't find the .357 ball he was looking for but there was plenty of hollow point. .223 ammo went from $19.95 to $24.99 per box.

At the end of my stay I passed a show attendee with a Garand over his shoulder so it wasn't a total loss for me.
