I am looking for Delisle carbine plans, I have the Sterling manufacturing drawings but it has no dimensions. It is close true to scale so screen calipers will work to measure, anyone have plans they want to trade? I have Sterling SMG blueprints, L1A1 and T48 Fal variant blueprints, I have many other blueprints for military guns. way to many to list AK ANd AR complete, M249 etc...

I did just give them out but people never return the favor so I ask for a trade usually.

Just a very simple question, is the handguard screw for the wood handguards longer than the one for the plastic handguards?

Just fled the Arizona heat for another lovely summer in England, and shopping for an L1A1 handguard set in the black pebble grain. Looking for a source, even in the States for that matter, as I'll be sending them to Mark at ARS for a build he doing for me. He had five sets, just my bad luck getting the kit/receiver together too late. Appreciate any leads. Cheers, Don

This question was prompted by the news of PM Thatcher's death and remarks about her decision to retake the Falkland Islands.

There are several famous photos of British troops trudging their way from the beachhead towards battle. There are some showing 7.62 GPMGs positioned as local air defence on the beachhead. Then somewhere, maybe the Osprey book summarizing the campaign had shots of .50 Brownings in UK service. The caption suggested these were found in stores and rapidly issued to troops as the ship armada was being loaded. For whatever reason, I'd never thought much of British use of .50s then or now. Some of those Falklands memories came back listening to stories about the PM of the day.

The question to the collective wisdom is, how many .50cal Brownings would the British Army (or Royal Marines?) have held in 1982? What doctrine would they be using? Are these guns still in service?

I was 'scared' into buying an L1A1 receiver from Gunbroker, 'just in case' I could never get one again. I then bought what was supposed to be a Canadian C1A1 parts kit that turned out to be a selection of someones 'leftovers'.

The lower receiver is has UE 60 A54406 59D and 960-0071 stamped on it. It looks like its in good condition even though it seems to have some trigger problems, 'no issue' I will replace with compliance parts. Can anyone tell me if it is Brit or Canadian?

The gas block has a 'pin' front sight, mounted on a square peg on a round base. This isn't Brit, is is Canadian or maybe Indian?

The wood is quite nice, the stock has MA84 stamped into it and the hand guards MA 67. Any help on origin would be great!

Was garage sailing and found an FN 49 that's been hiding in a closet for decades. I don't know squat about them. This one is a CAI import with "7.92" under the import mark (8 MM Mauser?) on the barrel. No muzzle brake/flash hider but there's an oversized "ferrule" on the muzzle and no mag. Dust bunnies living in the bore. I know that they could have seen corrosive ammo run through it, so the rifling may be suspect. Didn't get all the data off it but it's just down the road from me. What else do I need to look out for? Value, fair to good condition? PAX
I took everybodies obsevations/input and picked it up as a "parts" rig at the least. Talked over the "potential" issues with pitted bore and possible missing parts with the owner, $250 in payments on a hand shake, and I brought it home. Gave the bore a quicky go over, wasn't as bad as I thought over all but will need to thoroughly disassemble and exaimine (that's not rust, it's crap out of the bore). I'm happy anytime I stumble across anything, let alone one of these jewls. I believe it to be a King Farouk (Crown) contract vs Century build (Eagle). How'd I do? Anybody got a complete mag?PAX

I use my SLR for target plinking - turning targets at STANTA, out to 300 yards or so.

I normally shoot it with open sights (it has a Hythe sight I put on) but I recently acquired a SUSAT, and was planning to tidy this up and put on the SLR (I know the graduations are wrong as it is designed round 5.56 ammo, but I can get round that).

Question is, I am watching a tidy SUIT and mount on a foreign auction site, and it is close to end and currently at arouind £230.

Should I buy this, or stick with the SUSAT? I don't care about historical correctness, more about what will work.

Answers on a postcard please..........:).

CAI SPORTER C1089, not another english mark on it, '960-2302 B62' on slide, some 'cyrillic' letters here and there, a friend suspects Israeli. Some research suggests it's not a 'top shelf' FNFAL, however there must be some value? What think you shooter/collectors? Thanks, Don

ANyone know who sells these. I'm in CA and can only have 10 round magazines for my FAL. I bought some in reno NV and need to put teh blocks in to convert them to 10 rounders before I bring them back into CA. Can't remember for the life of me where I saw someone selling these things a few years back. Any ideas folks?

I like this site

I've always wanted a rifle in 8mm kurz
Was doing a google search . When I ran across a barrel . Then well may as well have some ammo . So I have a case of ammo and a barrel on order. Would you believe kurz is cheaper than 308.
Looking forward to doing the build Not sure what fal lower to use I'am thinking a izzy as I have a dozen of them .
Again cool site and if building a fal I may as well build one that I will shoot

I like to frequent public auctions and one day I went to one that listed, ".308 Sporter" as a firearm they were selling. I went up to the table and instantly recognized it was a FN FAL. I purchased it and shot it the same day (50 rounds of steel case, 40 rounds of Winchester brass.) with no problems.

My problem is I haven't seen any that look like mine. The grey metal, lack of a flash suppressor, and the barrel looks shorter than pictures I've seen. I know that in the 80's Century Arms sold a lot of these as kits and I believe this to be one of them. Stamped on the side it clearly states "Century Arms L1A1 .308 Sporter". I know that the receiver is metric as I purchased some inch magazines and they will not fit, but other than that I'm in the dark. I would also like to try and determine it's value because while I enjoy the piece, it doesn't fit in my collection.

Any information you all can provide would be much appreciated.

Hi everyone,

I've got an old BSA L1A1 that was cut up into a parts kit that I'm trying to restore to her former glory. One problem I've run into is that the Pistol Grip Sleeve (NSN 1005-99-960-2344, Part # P3/15268/306) was apparently cut off with a hack saw - judging by the marks on the underside of the lower receiver. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement one? I've tried Numrich, Gun Things, DSA and Enterprise and struck out at all of them. Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Just picked up my first FAL. It is a DSA built like a STG 58. The rifle is about 97% in finish but the finish is not all matching. DS Arms says it was a Rec. sold in TX. The rifle was built to NY State Regs., No evil flash hider. I would like to have this FAL checked out and refinished to match. Not looking for a cheap job but do not want the rifle gone for 3 months. Any ideas on who to send it to? Thanks
