If it was mine, I'd be working up some BP loads, but a friend let me borrow this fine piece to test the scissors mould Ideal 115 bullets cast this seek. Using only the proper weight bullets with visual defects for an initial trial, the results were encouraging. Not the 1 1/2" five shot 100yd group done with old factory Winchester ammo the other week, but not horrible. Certainly better than the factory Remington lead bullet loads which would barely stay on paper at 100...

10 shots in 3 1/2". 8 in 2 1/2". First shot out of a freshly cleaned barrel was the left-most. Not disappointed! These bullets all had visual defects, but were within -1/2 grain of 115 gr nominal weight (Pre-lube).

Also tested the load in some revolvers with good results. [The Army Special outshot the Python (using .38 wadcutters) at 50yds.]

Picked this very interesting muzzle loader up last week..it appears to be a double set trigger Swiss stutzen. The seller claims it is a flint to percussion conversion, .56 caliber. The only markings on it are on the lock plate 'fabrik', everything before it seems deliberately ground off. On the buttplate, middle, and front barrel band is a 'T' in shield marking. Wrist has what appears to be damage from a ball, with what appears to be a pretty old repair with brass strips. Barrel has bayonet lug that seems to have been ground down a bit. What on earth do I have here?
Estimated total production of all models is over 3 million. The rifle was known for its accuracy, simplicity and reliability.

I realise that there aren´t many Werders out there, so interest will not be excessive. But I´ve had the Werder for over a year now and it´s just beginning to show what it can do. The first months were frustrating. Loading the cases was anything but successful and I couldn´t even hit the large target at 50 metres. But things have suddenly worked out. I´ve now found a perfect load and found out most of the things that went wrong. The carbine´s only 80 cm long, but is<a href="http://www.milsurps.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=40483" title="Name:

I would like to acquire a reserve set of ss nipples but I do not know the thread size etc. since Richland Arms is no longer in business - where can I purchase??? 2 ) I have some old #10 caps that only ignite after second trigger pull - do caps have an expiration date or do I need to get a special brand of cap with more ignition sensitivity ? What could be the problem ?
Any direction and info would be greatly appreciated.

Loading lever assembly is missing (not uncommon apparently), the selector spring on the hammer is broken, and the cylinder locking bolt needs attention, but otherwise it's in very good shape. Bores are excellent.

Got the dies new and later got the Classic Cast press with the 1 1/4" thread for the large dies. Removed the 7/8" thread adapter screwed in the Snider die and noticed the really loose fit of the dies in the press. Tried three different ways of centering the seating die but none worked: neck expander bulged one side of the case every time when using both Jamison brass or cutdown 24 ga shot shell cases. Lee customer serv says it's the brass, but I've never seen this amount of die to press clearance.

Anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

Folks,
Greetings from Michigan!:D

I stopped at a gunshow this weekend, and parked by a table full of stuff. In a plastic bag, were some parts. The fella accepted my $$ and I ran off with this:

The label id's it as a Reproduction 1861 Eli Whitney Navy in 36 caliber, "in firing condition needs final timing".
Well, the seller said that he found it in a box at an estate sale. He included an "extra cylinder"... but that is for an 1851 Navy in 36cal (I have a virtual duplicate on a working revolver). He also included a hammer, but I am not sure if the hammer is correct.

The cylinder has a number on it. Not sure what it means:

The top strap has some machining done on it, but I don't know if anything is "missing".... or if this was a clean up operation.

The trigger guard hasn't been polished or cleaned up:

What I need help with, are the individual parts that are missing. Basically EVERY screw and pin is GONE. Along with the trigger and revolver actuation parts.

I went to Numrich and also Dixie Gunworks (the name on the barrel).... what parts will cross reference? They only list two parts as for the Eli Whitney. But numereous parts are listed for other revolvers. I suspect many will crossreference.
I have a mill and lathe and welder, so modification isn't a problem. But I think I really need a parts breakdown.

Got this and know what it is, but not quite how it measures. One side of the scale is marked GRAMM. Have checked with BP and it´s fairly accurate. It goes up to 4 grammes but the scale on the opposite side reads 10 (2 reads 5). So it can´t be grains. It could well be German and was obviously made for BP in that era. Can anyone help with the non-gramme scale?

Gentlemen.

Never ventured further back than WW1 rifles until I recently picked up a 71/84 Mauser.
Love at first sight.
I seem to have a bug here. These old rifles are beautiful!

Ok, so where do I start? I like to shoot my milsurps, it cannot just collect dust. I reload, I am pretty good at finding rare items. As a Canadian I put British Commonwealth historic items tops, but I do spread the love. I have some nice American, German, Russian, and even Italian pieces. Been on the hunt to find some Japanese stuff to complete the WW2 collection but that's like trying to find Waldo around here.

Therefore I ask for recommendations for a beautiful rifle, historical significance, not too pricey, and something I can take to the range from time to time without shooting my eye out!

I'm looking at a 1863 Remington Zouave rifle and don't have a clue of what would be a fair offer to its' owner.

It is in very good condition, no visible cracks or rust. The only thing I noticed is that the 3 tier sight must have come off as it appears to be glued on by maybe Super Glue.

The rifle even has the extra nipple in the stock under the brass hinge plate.

Any response would be appreciated. Thanks.
