Are there any know quirks to check out ? This is a RC dau 1944 mixed bagOparts headspace is good barrel, well is dark and gritty but I have seen worse. Ammo used was PPU match 200gn I shot 4 groups of 5 with simular results. None really better than the others

I'm new to mausers and looking at a 1908 Danzig that I found for private sale locally. I'm hoping the experts here can help. The bolt doesn't match but everything else does. The stock has a marking disk and no finger grooves but has a name carved in it that has been there a long time and a duffle bag cut. It is missing the safety. The owner is asking $275. Is that reasonable?

I have a quick question that has to do only with the accuracy and sighting of Swedish, M/96 rifle, and no others.

A friend got himself a Swede and we took it out. Of course I expected it to shoot high, and it hit about 5-10"s high from POA at 100 yards. So I put the sights about 5-10"s below where I wanted to hit, to see if I was as I expected. Sure as I was, it was shooting 5-10"s high, and I even got a bullseye.

But here's the question:Like most Mosin-Nagant rifles that shoot high unless they have the bayonet attached, are Swedish Mauser's meant to be shot with the bayonet attached, so to improve the accuracy at 100 yards, and compensate for the 5-10"s it otherwise shoots without a bayonet? I know that on the rear sight, the lowest is 300m, but on the Swedes could that just mean possibly, that within that 300m range the sights needed no tampering with and were flat shooting/accurate out to 300m?

Or could it possibly be, that 100 yards is not within the optimal range of accuracy for these rifles? That 100 yards is too close, and the rifle is really just starting out at 300m?

My neighbour brought over this rifle he asked if some one could tell him what he had. Not even sure what kind of round it takes I'll post pic as soon as possible

A Yugo 24/52C that I got last month at an on line auction arrived at my FFL recently and I got a chance to look it over before it went into his safe for the 10 day waiting period.

The 24/52C looks new under all that cosmoline. The bolt, stock and floor plate all match the receiver. The bore is fantastic.

I'll post a range report and more pics after the "cooling off" period.

I've got what I think is an early production post-WWII FN commercial mauser action, serial number 106XX. It has not letters or numerals in front of or behind the number which is found stamped just above the stock line on the right side of the receiver ring. Can anyone out there help me find out when this action was made?

I can't figure out if 71/84 receivers were blued. I've seen pictures both ways. Mine is sort of a dull brown. The rest of the barrel is blued.

I've always had a thing for Argentine Maus...ah hell...who am I kidding, let's face it, I've always had a thing for almost any vintage military rifle. :)

This last weekend I glommed four new Mausers and a Mauser action with a fluted stainless bull barrel of unknown caliber at an auction. The complete rifles were a Yugo 24/52C, a Persian 98/29, a Swedish M38, and this '09 Argentine cavalry carbine.

I've got a number of '09's, most in a little better condition than this one, but this is the only DGFM Argentine-made Mauser that I have.






Metal doesn't look too bad, wood is a little rough. But that seems to be par for the course with the DGFM mausers

I just got my 71/84 restoration project and ive run into a problem. I can't remove the bolt. I have detailed instructions a bout the washer and lever operation. The washer clears the receiver and the lever moves forward, but the bolt won't pull out. It seems to be hitting something. Any suggestions???

...w/r/t Mitchels Mausers? Are they actual Wehrmacht used K98 rifles or not? I've heard good things and I've heard bad things...allegations of deception...can anyone shed light on this?

I've got a thing for 98/29 Persian Mausers. They have one of the cooler crests and they are very well made. Whenever the subject of "the best Mauser" comes up, the BRNO 98/29 Persian is usually somewhere on the list.

I got lucky at an auction over the weekend and scored several rifles, including this Persian. The pictures are terrible and the auction description wasn't much better. I bid accordingly.









It isn't easy to tell exactly what condition this Mauser is in...most of the other rifles are caked in cosmo and this one looks like it may have its share too. Better pics and description when it arrives.

Want to get myself a k98 ZF 41 from milarm canada. Asking for 3500, only thing know it has the czech winter trigger guard on it. don't know how to check is it "real" or "fake"

I picked up this VZ33 at the somewhat local Cabela's in Marysville, WA. FS marked, came with a very nice K98k sling. Bolt has been blued and renumbered in the German style. No import marks, no cleaning rods, but still very nice. Only the second one I have seen in over 30 years of collecting.

Hi, I'm fairly new to the forum and I know little of Mausers especially a Chilean Mauser. But In the late 1970's, while I was on active duty in the Marine Corps a buddy of mine owed me money and could not pay, so he gave me this rifle as payment. It had been sporterized and is pretty ugly( he only owed me $50.00), but one thing struck me on this rifle. It has a separate serial # with a Star of David under it. I thought maybe it was used in the 1948 Israeli War for independence, but that is just a wild guess. Sorry, one of these pics is upside down. I would really appreciate any thoughts from the experts. Thank You.

I had some luck at an on-line auction yesterday and scored several new rifles. One was this CG M38. Looks like it is in decent condition. Hard to tell how matching the parts are. Looks like the barrel bands may not be matching, but I understand that is normal for the CG M38's

Pictures aren't the greatest, description was worse. Price was good.

A friend of mine paid $4000 for a K43 in excellent condition 98% blueing but none of the numbers match did he get takin.

I could use you guys input on this Mauser.I'm new to Mausers and dont know alot about them.I do know the 27 marking is from Erfurter Maschinenfabrik(Erma) Made in 1940.
Let me know what you think about it.

I haave been trying to restore my Gew 88 to firing condition. But I find I am missing the bolt head. Anybody know where a Gew 88 bolthead might be found? No luck on Ebay.

Saved this one from being butchered for it's action yesterday. I have this hunting buddy that likes custom rifles, he recently acquired a slim tapered .25 cal. octagon barrel with the intentions of having it installed on a Savage 99 and chambering it for .250-3000 Improved but the Gunsmith he uses had his doubts for whatever reasons about barreling a M99 so that ended that. A small ring Mauser action was suggested and last week while in Florida my buddy finds this M96 in a pawn shop and buys it for $175. He'd never shot a Swede before( he's not big on milsurps) so I had him bring it over for a test firing session. I hated to see it chopped so offered to trade a nicely done sportered M96 and the deal was done. It's about average condition with mismatched #'s so it's no big prize but should make a good shooter. The bolt body matches the receiver but the shroud, safety lever, cocking piece and rear sight don't. I can't quite figure how it got that way but the crown was beat up to the point where it was mushroomed. I took about 10 minutes to recrown and hopefully the accuracy will be ok. We only fired it a couple times each freehand and I'll give it a accuracy test later when the weather clears up, cold, windy and rainy today.

I have a really nice Brno Israeli 308.

It was rechambered to .30-'06. It was a horrible hack job done by a muppet

I am getting it rebarreled.

I want to "restore" it to 308 with a new barrel

Since the barrel will be new, I want the best possible quality.

any idea what I can expect to pay for this service?

I am also thinking of tunning the rifle up with lapped bolt, rethreaded and refaced reciever and squared bolt.

any advice, ideas or reccomendations?

Just spent the last hour trying to find some information on the rifle I have just purchased. I know absolutely nothing about K98 Mausers. This one has been converted to 7.62 and appears to be unfired. All markings have been buffed off except for a small 'Orion' on the passenger side of the receiver next to the serial number. Came with scope mounts. Bore is pristine. Anyone able to give me likely history on this conversion. What model Mauser is this one? Who converted them to 7.62? Purchased in Australia.

How hard is it to cut down a m96 stock to fit a m39 Swedish Mauser.any how to videos out there.

I have a 1942 Husqvarna m38 that has been turned in to a sporter, I would like to find an original stock set to put it back in original condition, anyone know where I might find one.

This one has a Mauser Banner on the front receiver, 1933 Chinese marking on the left side of receiver. I bought this as a group of 3 from a gentleman moving to FL. He said all were 8mm Mauser and sold a bunch of ammo with the deal. Got to the range with 2 of them only to have problems. First shot keyholed at 25yd. Check the muzzle and a round easily drops all way in to the case mouth. OD of bullet is correct at .322~.323 and being very gentle with inside caliper I get approximately .335" diameter. So standard 8x57 bullet went rattling down the bore like a golf ball in a gutter pipe.. The rifling appears clean, shiny and sharp. Any guess as to what oddball rifle I picked up. This is obviously a parts gun as the bolt and other numbers do not match. Thoughts, or comments? I got pictures if you'd like to see.

I have a scoped Persian Mauser that drops point of impact about 8 to 10 inches AT 300 to 500 meters as the barrel heats up .Any tips on what to look for when i take this rifle apart to look for wood pressure points or is this normal for Mausers . Arnie
