Hello to all and thanks in advance for opinions and advice. While visiting a local gun shop today, I saw a rifle that was unusual for that particular store. Marked "Model 1922 M11" Cal. 22, serial #3005B. The barrel is dated 11-25 and the receiver and barrel appear parkerized (dull grey) with the bolt channel parked also. The stock has a small cartouche of a capital P inside a square on the underside of the pistol grip. The bolt has the serial # etched (engraved?) crudely on the underside and M2 on the top of the bolt handle. It has a rear sight with an elevation slide for 125 yards, a small aperture, and a Lyman globe front sight. The bore is bright and shiny. The rifle is on consignment and comes with one magazine. The metal looks great, the wood is in good shape but may have been sanded on. Since this is the first and only one I have seen I can't judge the wood for finish or fit, but overall for a rifle of this vintage it looks pretty good and the Lyman globe on the front indicates some level of target shooting was done or at least tried. The asked price was $975 and my question is twofold: first am I going to get hurt at that price, and second are spares available for common problems? Thanks.

I have a correct set of Stevens sights for it, but mounted a Redfield International rear and Olympic front and see how it shoots. It came set up for the Redfield sights. Haven't gotten to the range with it yet.
The wood and metal are in very good condition.

Some surface rust and a fair number of dings and dents in the stock but the bore and chamber are nice, the trigger wasn't as bad as I was afraid it might be. I put 10 rounds through it just to hear it go bang and to the rifles credit it put all 10 into a ruffly 4 inch group at 25 yards which for me starting off cold offhand isn't half bad.
I'm in the process of doing a thorough cleaning. It's looking much better all ready. I don't think this poor thing has been cleaned in at least 10 years. Short of the cosmoline on my Enfields I have never seen so much congealed oil, hardened grease and powder fouling. It's a wonder it would even fire.:yikes:

Hello everybody,
i am new to this forum and i live in west Germany. I have read some great threads about the M1922 rifle in this forum so i decided to register.
Not long ago a M1922 M2 found a new home im my basement. I found it in excellent condition with blank and sharp barrel at a small gunstore. The clerk told me it came from a deceased collector. I have never seen one of this rifles in my life before and i am surprised about the good condition of steel and wood. I hope you can tell me some information about its age and maybe where it comes from originally.

It it stamped as US Springfield Armory Cal. .22 M2 with the serial number 5129. The barrel near the front sight is stamped with SA 7-42 and the flame bomb symbol. The bolt handle is stamped NS M2. The diopter is a 48C made by lyman. It came with a leather sling which looks like a 1907 modell and a detachable 5 shot magazine.

Is there a must have spare part kit for this rifle? I thought about getting a spare magazine in the us.

Thank you very much.

I really don't know if thois is the right forum, but here it goes:

I have a brand new JW 15 Norinco that I bought because a, I learned to shoot on a Brno #2 that my dad had way back in the 70's, and b, I can't afford a Brno or CZ, and C, the JW15 is supposed to be a knock-off of the Brno. Simple economics.

I keep hearing that there are modifications that can be made to this little .22 that are supposed to make it "pop". any suggestions out there?

For starters, where (if anywhere) can a guy get a decent stock for it? I have the black plastic one. Any suggestions for "cleaning her up"? Already cleaned out that bunker crude the Chinese seem to ship everything in.

I recently inherited a model Springfield Model 1922 and was hoping your expertise could help me identify which one I have. It does have holes drilled I believe for scoop, I assume by a gunsmith and I haven't seen any other ones with this stock. I believe it's one of the 2020 made that isn't a m1 or m2. It still shoots true ( had it out today shooting ) and is in good shape. Low serial # to. I just don't want to be shooting it if it's like a super rare and valuable gun. So any idea's on what it is worth would be helpful as well.

Any help would be appreciated
I know of Norinco and have .22s by them, but cannot find any
It does shoot well, and it is a very good junior training rifle.

It reminds me a little of an old Mauser KKM target rifle I had in the late 80s.

First off; I'm looking for advice, not trolling in the wrong location for buyers.

Is it better to offer a gun with a flawed stock and include a spare stock in good condition; or should I swap out first and just mention that the stock and reciever S/Ns don't match?

Back story, I was taking photos of my H&R Reising Model 65 for a possible ad when I noticed this:

removing the buttplate revealed this:

From this last photo, not only did I identify a stock flaw, I learned the stock on the rifle is not original to the rifle. S/N ends in 831, but the stock is stamped 122.

I have 2 other M65 stocks I could use:

Or I could repair the stock currently on the rifle. What does the collected wisdom of this sight suggest as a COA before selling this rifle?
