Regarding a Belgium M-1888 Comblain Forrester carbine or other rare "birds".
-If stock has been sanded and varnished.
-If butt plate has been replaced and stock altered to make it fit.
-If rifle has been re-blued.

In general, expressed in % what kind of impact do any of the above actions have on the value ?
Probably a tough question to answer, but any input is very welcome.

Thanks !

Gday folks
This is the first time on here as I look to seek advice on my Bayonet. I bought it at auction in Australia without seeing it (there were 900 lots) and as soon as I picked it up after, I got real suss on it.

It is stamped 1907, 13, L, X and very dodgy thing that I think is meant to be a broad arrow.

I was wondering if anyone had some knowledge of training bayonet markings or maybe ones used in film?

Check out the photos, markings seem dodgy and not all that you expect are there and hook has square edges. Not to mentioned the nice rounded blade point!

Im not holding high hopes for this thing but I thought I may ask.

Interested in the value of these two- the SKS is all matching numbers, the mauser has one I can see that doesn't match. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

The last pic is the mauser- I uploaded in the wrong order apparently. The unmatched part is the band at the top of the stock- not sure what it is called. There are eagles and swastikas all over it.

Fake?! AIM Surplus Browning Hi-Power Fake? Advice needed on recent (2013) purchase from AIM

I am new to the forum and I hope this is the correct place to post this request for advice on a possible fake/counterfeit. Thank you in advance for reading any comments/help.

I purchased the Hi-Power from AIM recently (2013). It was listed as a European Hi-Power police trade-in. Price $359.

L series serial number on the front of the grip. No visible proof marks, anywhere on the gun, except one on right side of trigger guard. It is parked. No serial numbers on slide.

Slide is marked: Fabrique Nationale Herstal Belgique

The add for the firearm as on AIM:

Fabrique Nationale Herstal Belgique (Mfd and assembled by FN Belgium) Steel frame Hi Power Semi-automatic 9mm Pistols. This small lot of Pistols are Law Enforcement turn-ins from Europe. Mechanically these are in working condition but expect a lot metal finish wear as pictured. Perfect for the Refinishing project. Some may have lanyard rings. Grips may vary between wood and black plastic, as well as spur and round hammer.Comes with one 13rd Magazine. Most will have numbers lined out and electro penciled as pictured.

I have spent about 2 hours reading various posts on this forum and others and it appears this could be a fake---that in fact this is FEG.

Any help or pointing me in the right direction to run down an answer would be appreciated.

There is Diamond D cartouche on barrel sling swivel
The muzzle brake is a Herter with venting slits on the top
Blued barrel and receiver not parkerized and a swirled chrome bolt
The stock is nicely finished hardwood with english style checkering on the pistol grip sides and fore-grip sides.
Any ideas about background of weapon? When was it made? Why a blued and threaded barrel?
What about value?

I have a Steyr M95 Carbine that I want to sell and I am curious to what the value would be? I am not sure what caliber it is chambered in and wondering if there is a way to tell if it is 8x50R or 8x56R?

Numbers on the barrel, bolt, receiver, buttstock and a few other parts that I can see, all seem to match. The rifling in the barrel looks to be very crisp.

Thanks in advance for any input. :)

I would like to find out what this the value of this carbine would be on the international collectors market:

Carbine model 98, 8x57 JS made bij FN Herstal in 1954 for the Dutch police. About 5000 of these were produced, stamped with 'gempol' which means 'town police' and a crowned J for queen Juliana during whose reign these carbines were issued.

Carbine is mint, hardly fired and comes with orignal sling and an original box of 50 FN cartridges issued with the carbine in 1954.

This is a rare model 98 because of the stamps and because in the past years most of these were stripped down for their much wanted actions.

I inherited A Remington 1903A3 from my grandfather when he passed, and it has all the proper stamps but, I showed it to a dealer and he told me the barrel had been rebarrel? it has a bursting bomb under the muzzle with a 2-43? how do I find out if it has been rebarrel or not? now I know some history about these weapons and know finding a 100% complete never altered weapon is rare. but he told me it really dropped the value of my rifle to around 100 bucks. was he offering me a good deal or did he try to swindle me? ( and no i didnt give it to him)

Trying to make room for other "dust collectors". The fuse of this otherwise intact example was blown out as well as one of the segments. Other than that it is in good shape for what it is with very little ground action/rust, although completely rust coated . I have no idea where it was found. Could someone please provide a range of value if I decide to sell?
Thanks,

I acquired a 1903 mk I and am trying to find a true value and idea of where to market this firearm. The research I have done shows the rifle being built in the latter part of 1918 and the stamp on the barrel is 9-18 below the ordanance stamp. The stock has 2 stamps near the cutoff that I assume is Rock Island Arsenal with FK below. It still has the gray green parkerizing and the stock is near perfect. It doesn't appear to have been rebarreled or rebuilt. Any insight to the value or a serious market would be appreciated.

Does the fact that the receiver and bolt seem to have been somewhat polished and the barrel has it's original finish mean this may be a fake? The rest of the rifle seems correct from photos I have seen, it's only the receiver and bolt finish I am concerned about. I haven't seen one before with a different finish on the two pieces.

Came accross this the other day. It is what appears to be a Pattern 1913 Trials rifle bayonet w/ Hook Quillon. Marked with Crown 1913 Dated 3 13 EFD. Several inspector marks and broad arrow on the reverse side. Has a number 532 stamped on the pommel. Compared it to several Pattern 08 and Pattern 13 (P14 Winchester and Remington) bayonets that I have. Marks look very legit? Any thoughts?
Thanks

Good day everyone;
I am new to this website, I guess you would consider me a treasure hunter for it is how I make my living. Last week I was doing a garage/barn clean out with the owner when he pulled out a box opened it and said here these are just a bunch of old buttons. My chin about hit the floor when I saw that it actually was a entire box full of military buttons silver plated from 1951 still in the box that was in pretty poor but still whole condition. We counted these buttons this morning the box says there is 288 of them but in reality there is actually exactly 400 of them. I am going to try to post some pics so you can see what they are. Did we just run into a really good find? If so what are they worth, can anyone help me with this.
I've tried to research, but haven't found much on these mk5 "trial" rifles. It does have a fairly low sn# I believe(735 i think), it's not accessible at the moment. Thanks to all in advance!

Greetings everyone,

After reading the CMP article on them, visiting the James Wesley website and reading a thread on this website, there is a LOT to keep straight regarding 30 round carbine mags. I have an opportunity to buy some but they are expensive and I'm concerned they are junk. I have a Korean 30rd mag that isn't the smoothest but seems to work OK and a ProMag that I really like. That said, I wouldn't mind having a couple of the real McCoys.

Based upon what I've read, the marking being deep and clear is suspect as well as the bolster being square. I'm hoping the folks on this forum can take a look at the pictures and tell me what they think.

Thanks,
Jeff

BTW...I've asked for a picture of the front seam and I was told that the followers hold open after the last round. I've also been told that there is no rust on the mags.

Hello everyone ... :)

I have my eye on a Mauser P38 9mm that appears to be in excellent condition. Markings are byF43, s/n 8680. I need an opinion on value. Also, I have read that if thee is an import stamp on it then the value is minimal i.e. $400- or so. What does an import stamp look like?

Can you give me a general idea of what to look for? If pics would help let me know and I'll get some for you.

Have a great day.
