Funny story about Anniston
One of my dental patients and I frequently talk guns. He "lost" his carbine recently when a gunsmith went out of business and disappeared with his. So I encouraged him to buy one through CMP as he is a veteran, while he still can. He wife came in recently and kind of glared at me and said, "Well, WE went to ANNISTON!" I think she was a little miffed at me for telling her husband about CMP. "I stayed in the hotel while HE shopped... there really wasn't ANYTHING to do..." Anyway after a 13 hour drive there, and a 13 hour drive back, he came home with two carbines, one for his son, and a Garand; apparently he was not willing to wait for mail order. He was really adulatory about the helpfulness of the staff and how nice the other customers were. I found it interesting that he shipped the guns home FEDEX so he did not have to pay the state tax on them and saved money. Said there was no Carbine ammo available, and there were no 03's. I asked him about Krags and he wasn't sure. He bought a little '06 for the M-1.
Compare the CMP requirements...
with those for President of the United States!! Probably just as well that it's harder to buy a gun - I wouldn't want one in the Kenyan's hands, anyway!:help:
