Two Civil War pistols
I was given these two pistols by my sister in law. They were used in the Civil War by her Great Great Great(I'm not sure how many Greats it should be)Uncle. She is going to send me his information so I can research it. The Savage North Percussion Navy Revolver and the Smith and Wesson Volcanic Iron Frame Pistol are both mechanically sound and in good shape for their age. The holster looks to be original to the Savage but I am not a holster authority so I don't know for sure. These are the first examples of either of these pistols that I have ever seen in person. I was surprised how big the Savage is and how small the Volcanic is. She knows that I am an avid collector and felt I should have them.:)

What a neat pair to have fall into your lap!

Well you had better up your insurance on them as they are very nice collectible pieces to have. Your S&W is a #1 and is 30 cal. Made no later then 1855 with about 1000 of them being made. Your Savage was made no later then 1865 with a total of only 20,000 being made with almost 12000 of them being military contract guns. The rest were civilian sales. Are there any inspector markings on the grips? But you do have a great pair of civil war era pistols and I'm sure the holster will just add a lot to the over all value.

Thanks fellas. I can't find any inspector marks on the grips, I believe they are worn off.
