SMLE MK I*s-range outing
I had the day off today to I decided to make a late afternoon trip to the range. I took three early SMLE 's with me. From top to bottom:
SMLE Mk I*, produced by Enfield in 1904
SMLE ConD II, produced as an MLE Mk I, converted in 1904 by Sparkbrook
SMLE Mk I*, produced by Enfield in 1911 (sportered forend replaced with a Prestigious set)

It's been a while since I had shot these, so I had to reacquaint myself those barleycorn front sights. Handloads were made to mimic the Mk 6 load, as all three rifles are still calibrated for this load.

While these are not target rifles, The 1911 Mk I* and the Cond II printed some respectable groups. The 1904 Mk I* needs some more work with bullet/powder combinations.
All in all, an enjoyable day in the mild fall weather. Hope you all enjoy the pics.

Lee enfields
Nice to shoot the early rifles and noticed you had a ConD II. I got my ConD II from a friend long time ago back when Skip Stratton was still around. Skip did some checking and told me that he believed mine was a left over Mark 1 action body used to build my rifle. The butt has the early long tang but the rear sling swivel was changed. Sights are still for the Mark 6 cartridge.
Nice to view another ConD IIAttachment 133399Attachment 133400Attachment 133401Attachment 133402Attachment 133403Attachment 133404Attachment 133405
