My local big box outdoor store that takes in used guns wants a nice round $609.99 USD for a beat up, FTR'd, No4 Mk1 in Suncorite with wobbly Beech furniture (stock and forend both!) and a big fat Ishapore bolt of the later largest type.
ipso facto, if that's the price they want for a junker imagine the value of our rifles that are actually nice. Our collections are worth millions! So congratulations all, I just thought I'd pass on the good news.

Stumbled into a shop yesterday and they had a pretty nice 1942 Savage No 4 Mk 1. The asking price a measly $1200. My oh my!!
Same around here but with a twist. Beat up No 4 Mk I non matching with a non serial numbered bolt $650. Beautiful No 4 Mk 2 all matching beautiful stock in the "A" serial range falls into the RAF contract $700. Go figure.
Even the sporters have ridiculous asking prices. Not uncommon to see $350-$450 on sporters.
Keep the stories coming its making me feel good about my "investment".
Although in reality the selling price is the only one that counts.
1903’s go here for 1500€ and more. Most are on sale around 1800€. That’s why I still don’t own one.

Yep, sounds about right on the sporters too. What makes me sad is that those ridiculous and inflexible prices mean you can't save any sporter you come across that is actually rare and restore it if it is worth it.
Well Brian B, you made me remember that I forgot to mention that time I was so excited when I walked into a small out of the way shop and saw a nice unmolested Mk V. They knew though. when I asked the price they said $5000 USD. :yikes: I couldn't even say anything much less tell them I'd never seen one sell for over $1200-$1500 in the US!
Ive just Picked up what id call a reasonably tidy Savage 2 groove no4 Mk1 fo $480AUD
To the point is i had the ability to own more on my lisence (going for 3x .303s currently which is apparently going to be an issue) id have picked up another 1 or 2.
Ive also came across a Jungle carbine online in an aussie shop over east for $650 if i recall correctly i could be wrong but it was definitely under $1000AUD.
Aussie pricing varies so much from reasonable to crack pipe lately.
