Carbine back in "front line" service, sort of....
Well, a good friend has a serious coyote problem, and I made the mistake of telling him how good of a coyote whacker my Mini-30 is. So he borrowed it for a bit.
Since I have not had a coyote problem so far this year, (and even if I did, 125 yards is a far as I can shoot), I didn't mind him using it. With that in mind, I loaded up the Quality Hardware with Hornady Critical Defense ammo, and temporarily replacing the Mini-30s in its job as a Home Defense Carbine and Coyote Whacker. Considering I had killed Black Tail deer at 100 yards with a carbine, a Coyote should also succumb.
I have no problem depending on the carbine as a Home Defense carbine. With three 15 round mags (one in it and two in the Type I stock pouch) it is a very handy, self contained 45 rounds of whoop-@ss! About 20 years ago, I ran off a car load of Goblins that showed up at my house in the woods at 3 AM using my M1 Carbine, though it MAY have been pointed at them as they pulled into my yard with the lights out! I stepped out on my porch as they pulled in, leveled the carbine at them and said "Hello boys, do you want to play?" They could not get out of there fast enough.
as Sun Tsu said something to the effect of "the best battle is the one that you win without having to fight it!"
