Got the 1917 Eddystone to the Range-Pics
Last week I put the rifle back together. I left it alone for week while the JB Weld cured. I used it around the cross bolt and at the receiver rear "heels" where it sits in the stock.
Went through 60 rounds of Sellier & Bellot FMJ 150gr. This is their "Garand" ammo. Figured it is the closest to the ball that would have been original. Not the best for accuracy, but close to what the rifle was made for.
This target was a ten round attempt at 100 yards. Five of the group of six at 2 o'clock were the first five rounds. I paused and looked through the spotting scope. Looked good except a bit to the right. I adjusted the front sight and shot the second five. They scattered. I think I lost my rhythm or something.

I shot another ten round target, they were still scattered. However they seemed more centered to the left than the first target. I called it a day at that point. Besides, a breeze was coming up from the right. By the way, all the shooting today was standing at a tripod, not a bench or prone.
So I packed up and took a picture of the rifle. Kind of a cool old dead manzanita bush made a good perch for picture taking:

I think I have the front sight set about right. Next outing will tell all. But before then I will reduce the aperture in the rear sight. That should help a lot for consistency. On my other aperture rifles it certainly has (M1A, another Eddystone, 308 Stoner gas gun).
