We had individuals that would balance climb their way up and drop vertical hauling lines and safety lines for the rifle companies... Unlike Ovidio, who would just lead his company of accomplished Alpinis, average day for them. Our climbing schools annually focused on teaching the riflemen how to overcome their fears of doing simple climbing.
We actually had the “Alpieri”, specialists in mountaineering, climbing etcetera who led the way for the companies of regular grunts.
Not everybody had the necessary skills and experience to climb a vertical wall, but, when correctly set up and led, we could bring them all up. That was fun!
Hahaha. No, was not so. Don’t worry;)
