New, (to me), No4 Mk2 Fazakerly 1954

Hello All, I am a new member to this forum. I have been shooting Enfield rifles for about 25years now. I recently acquired the aforementioned No4 Mk2 rifle. I went to the range today to check out the zero on the sights. I used the last of my 1987 FN 174grn .303 ball ammo to do this with. This FN is the best milsurp .303 I've ever used. Anyways, I was zeroing at 100 yrds from a sandbag rest. I got several group sizes of 2" or less, so I'm pretty happy with the accuracy potential of this rifle. The bore is pristine. It is the location of the groups that troubles me. At 100yds with the battlesight, it shot right at point of aim. With the ladder sight set at 200yds, and fired at 100 yds, it shot 10" LOW! Now, my understanding is that with the ladder sight set at 200 yds, the point of impact at 100 yds should be 3" high. Well thats not the case with this rifle. I had to crank the ladder sight up to 450 yds to get the rifle to shoot 3" high at 100 yds. So I am assuming that the front sight is WAY too tall. Can anyone confirm for me the correct zeroing technique or link me to a post that describes the correct zeroing technique? Also, what range is the battlesight supposed to be "on" at? The front sight on this rifle is marked ".015". Any help is greatly appreciated.

The battle sight is set at about 450 yards, so your rifle is currently zeroed too high. You probably need a "-0.30" or "-0.45" foresight blade to bring the POI down to the correct level.

Can I be so bold as to suggest that before you do anything else, to check the zero of your rifle with the ammunition it was designed to shoot and was originally zeroed with. Get yourself some .303" Mk7 ball RG or RL or the only approved substitute. Greek 1980's HXP .303" ball.

Don't test your diesel car with used cooking oil

There have been several/many discussions about zeroing and the variations of foresights and foresight block bands on this forum. You'll just have to look for them...................

Let me re-phrase my question...Assuming I'm using the proper Mk7 ball ammo and my rifle is properly zeroed, where should the points of impact be, fired in the following two scenarios?
1) With the battlesight at 100 yds.
2) With the ladder sight set at 200 yds and fired at a 100 yd target.
