I purchased a 1942 Savage No4 MkI yesterday at the OGCA meeting in Wilmington, OH. The rifle is in beautiful condition and has South African ownership marks on it. The markings I have a question on are three backwards stamped "Parker Hale Ltd England" markings located on the butt stock. There are no other signs that Parker Hale did anything to this rifle and I have never seen this mark on an Enfield before.
Any ideas of what and why?
