Hi Vincent!
Maybe Bren MK3 Barrel?
https://www.milsurps.com/images/impo...8829_img-1.jpg
It's an old friend. The BARREL, assembly Mk4. It is the lightweight short version from the Mk3 gun. I know what you're going to ask next......... Well, what /where is the Mk3 barrel then. Good questioon! The Mk3 barrel was a lightweight Mk2 barrel, machined down to the Mk4 barrel spec but fitted with the Mk2 flash eliminator. This barrel waseveloped for the Mk4 Bren which was a lightened Mk2 gun
Incidentally, after about 1955 or so, the short Mk4 barrel was standardised as the norm and could be found on most in-service Brens as and when the old Mk1's and 2's became exhausted.
At least you could ZERO a Mk2 gun with a Mk4 barrel. It was IMPOSSIBLE to zero a Mk1 gun with a shorty Mk4 barrel because the graduations simply didn't equate to, well......., anything really, even on the Mk1 gun over about 400 yards. You muddied the waters even further by shortening the sight radius. Yep......., I know the Indians did it with their Mk 1/3 and all that.....
Ok Brit Plumber
Ah! Thank you, Captain Laidler.
The additional information is much appreciated too. It explains everything. :)
