Now that I´ve settled in to shooting with a scope, I´ve got a problem in that I have to remove the scope to transport the rifle to the range (on a motorbike). So I need a protective container for the scope & bracket. There´s a repro on a French site but it might well be a bit too short. It´d need to be about 14 inches (35cm) long. Don´t mind about the screws not fitting the bracket as I could pad it out with foam. Could someone provide the inside length oif the standard tin? (please)
Your scopes too long, max inside length of tin is 295mm or 11" 5/8, there is also a few repro tins on that auction site at present, I know the seller quite well.

If it's just protection you are looking at, you could just use a but of large dia sewage pipe. Cement on a block-end, cut to length and cement on a threaded end for a threaded cap. I used to send repaired telescopes back in a similar set-up instead of flimsy cardboard boxes. If it will stand up to the UK Royal Mail, it'll resist anything!
