Argentine 1909 engineer carbine sling.

For my Argentine 1909 engineer carbine I have purchased one sling... A near mint condition green leather sling, that I believe was intended to be used on the long rifle (gew 98 type pattern 1909 arg). This sling itself is very nice and beautiful but I would the correct sling that was intended to be used with the rifle. I bought this sling because I was ignorant that there would be a carbine sling.

There may have been many types of slings for the carbine over the years, so there maybe several iteration or patterns of sling. I've seen one that is natural leather on one side and dyed brown on the other and is narrow in width. I've seen another that is wider and natural in color.

If anyone could post an image or link me into the right direction so I could know what pattern is correct, I'd appreciate it. I will post a picture of my rifle to clean up confusion on what pattern of rifle I have... It is the 1909 engineer carbine. Any information will help me because right now, I have no idea what to look for... Thanks.

I would also like to know the correct sling for my Argentine. I have the Calvary carbine, and m going to look for the correct sling, and bayonet.

I believe the green slings are inappropriate for any of the Mauser rifles. Yes they look awesome but I believe they did not come into full use until the Mausers were phased out. Would I put one on my Argentine, yes I would. Was actually looking for one for a number of years until the question of whether they were correct or not along with the rising prices somewhat ended it. I have brown/natural Spanish type slings on my rifles now. I actually have a huge book on Argentine rifles right here beside me however so I should pick it up and see what it says.

All Argentine leather was brown until 1947 when they switched to green. Rifle slings consisted of one piece of leather with a buckle on one end and a brass button on the other. The green slings were 1 inch wide and slightly wider than the earlier brown ones.

The Carbines have a wider piece of leather which is wound around the buttstock and through the ring behind the trigger guard.

There is not a single photo of a sling in the 296 page book that I can find other than black and white photos of the soldiers. The one brass buckle I can see has a rounded front and a center pin.
