Hello all, just wondering to get some information about this sight before I purchase. Based on the pictures, the sight seems to be canted a little forward on the rifle (not sitting at a 90). Is that normal? Some pictures I've seen online seem to be similar. The eyepiece seems level when sight is up. The No9 sights I have seen are not quite vertical, but much more vertical than yours.

Hi, I've got a no. 9 sight that replaces the peep sight on a MLE, it fits directly to the rifle with no fixing plate and folds down when not in use. Not sure of the sub model but it's definitely a number 9. Anyhoo, it does lean slightly forward in use, however the horizontal arm with the peep is angled slightly to suit so it's parallel with the bore.

Yes perfectly correct as the others have already stated, I've owned two of them over the years and you're not the first with the same query.
I only had one Alf Parker sight and it had that lean but I never did shoot it.
Mine leans forward just a bit. The base in Agambard's photo appears to be an Australian issued item for a Mues (?) sight. If it fits and works...

Thank you all for the photos. I've decided to proceed with purchasing it. I really do love these sights. Interesting point about the possibility of it being a Mues sight base. I know that BSA and parker made "close up" plates but this is not marked as either but instead has a broad arrow and MA (Lithgow?) stamp. Perhaps from a cadet trainer or military issued (sniper?) rifle.
