The US Marines had a similar problem over in the islands in WW2 . Little critters in the supply dumps over there . Couldn't use an M1 due to collateral damage and firefights between the units brought back from the front for shave , shower , hot meal , and a good night's sleep . They took a few M65 Reising .22 trainers , set back the front sight ( they are threaded on ) , added threads , and mounted Maxim suppressors . Problem solved . New problem …. how to keep the front liners from taking the rifles and ammo and hunt ' two-legged rats " ?
