I'm sure they could use it for whatever they wanted, but both the Sherman and the Tiger I had openings called pistol ports. Kind of interesting, actually.

Early Sherman, without a loader's hatch...needed some way to chuck the spent main gun brass. Later versions had a much requested loader's hatch and the pistol port eventually went away
Nice to see the unstoppable M1919's. If killing machines were a work of art, this would be it.
We modified our M1919's and big M2's in the 60's and 70's and turned great machine guns into temperamental machine guns...... and in the case of the M2, with its so called quick change barrel, into an unreliable machine gun. Wasn't anyone listening............ It already HAD a quick change barrel!
