I just can't pay $750 for one. I keep picking them up and looking but can't pull the trigger. That's good info on the Spreewerks I'll remember that....

I'm quite certain if given a minute someone will come on and contradict me completely, only clouding the issue. This is information that was made clear to me years ago and then when I saw the guns, it was apparent...I'd get a cheaper, worn Walther or Mauser if I wanted a user. Extra mags too. Mind, for a collection, you need a BYF, AC and CYQ for all of them.
I would get a cyq if it were a vet bring back and had the holster but I would prefer a walther or Mauser. Spreewerg did however make the fewest p38s. slightly less than 300,000
I've got a CYQ sn 882z in excellent condition. It's actually my favorite P-38 to shoot. The finish machining is very crude but it doesn't have any mechanical problems.
Sounds like it's about near the end of production?

yes that is right near the end so I would certainly expect the quality of the finish to be a bit lacking. The Russians were practically knocking on Berlin's door at that time.
