I received an email from MILSURPS.COM member Amatikulu. He graciously forwarded a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet of information on No.32 scopes for the Enfield No.4(T) sniper rifle, which he got some years ago from a Dutch collector called Harry Bindels. I've converted the current spreadsheet to a universal PDF file and I'll try to contact Harry and get it updated, if possible. The spreadsheet has Dutch language headers, but there's a translation table at the very bottom to understand what they mean.
In essence it's a spreadsheet that attempted to track various scopes by serial number, as to where they were officered for sale, who sold them and also who bought them.

Hi have a no.32 mk3 marked os 2039A in a mount marked 31842.

Hi I have what I think to be one of the 1944 Canadian LONG BRANCH No.4 Mk I *'s that were not stamped with the "T" designation, Sn# 71L0xxx . The number by the top of the wrist is "C-307" if it is a legitamate rifle, would that be the the scope number that I would be looking for, for a restoration?
VZ54/56 looking for scope with mount serial # P1939
Scope with mount serial # P1804 to trade.
Two No32 scopes no longer with their original rifles:
No32 MkI S/N 7636 formerly belonging to at least two other rifles- you have appropriate rifle S/N, then maybe we work out swap. It works very well and is my first No32 scope, so I'm kinda attached. Might rather swap rifles or something.
No32 MkII S/N 9335- but no bracket comes w/ it! Works fine, its on my most accurate No4(T). Will swap for another MkII scope that is in good working order or a scope number that I'm hunting. (See Rifles Looking for Scopes, please.)
Scopes I've had.
Can't be sure where they all are now!

I just found what I believe is a first production run No 32 Mk 1 HCM Co REG 3958 with original rings and JG mount. The scope is in good condition with original finish but the brass is showing in places.
I would love to find the rifle for this scope or ANY matching parts. Please feel free to PM me if you have any comments about this scope. I believe it's a VERY rare first production run from the original first contract awarded to HCM circa 1941.
No 32 Scope pictures by wats6831 - Photobucket
Nice find Wats6831. It's not my impression that an HBM scope from the 3000 range is that unusual. I had several in the past, including one numbered 3057, which was a bit unique in that it was dated 1941 in the engraved markings. That was apparently dropped for "security" reasons shortly after.
The reason there are so many MkI scopes around is that there was a post-war refurbishment program that replaced perhaps most of them with later types. I was told by a now deceased surplus dealer in the UK who specialized in optics in a very big way, that his firm had bought about 5000 MkI scopes from the MoD during the 1950s and used to sell them for £5.00 each in the case with the mounts. Mind you, £5 was about an average week's wage in 1950 and it hadn't changed much by 1960 from what I've read!
Thanks for the information. Considering reproductions of these scopes are going for several hundred USD. Especially considering it was made during the first production run, and no more than 4,000 of these can be existence. I had thought that "early" scopes had an added meaning but sounds like not. From what I can tell these are starting to bring quite a premium. Thanks again.
No32 MkI William Watson No.1809 seen. This would have been fitted to a trials No.4 originally I believe.

William Watson No32 Mk.I No. 1616 offered on eBay.ca for $2000. and later withdrawn, presumably for private sale. Seller was "grimlock_me_king". Scope in good optical condition reportedly, painted gloss black and with ocular shade fitted.
11 of that 16xx series known to me including 1613, 15 and 21. Including several from the large ex-Indian Army batch. So the thick gloss paint would seem to be the giveaway here. Not sure that many would fall into the 'good optical condition' sphere though. But with optical spares now more available than ever before, a good restoreable proposition

MK III # 22497 is on eBay currently.
I have a Mk I and a MKIII that I will check the serials of and post tomorrow, both sans rifle.
I just ran into scope No. 32 Mk.I, marked "OS 466A KL" over "1941 Reg. No. 7764".
It came with bracket serialized to 64L7882, so I assume it once was mated to a Canadian rifle?

Comment: This No.32Mk111 scope was off the top of the pile of those imported by Lawrance Ordnance 15-20 years ago. It is externally good and optically and mechanically excellent, lenses are clear, unscratched and unmarked. These are the best of the No32 scopes and this example is a cracker.
