Win Mod12 Trench Gun Conversion
I posted a previous thread about converting my original WWII Model 97 Riot to Trench Gun but decided against it in order to conserve it's original history. Since then I acquired an E series Model 12 mfd 1946 with original "CYL" bore that could make an ideal candidate for a conversion but unfortunately it has a Cutts Compensator. Not only that but the gun is in much better original condition than expected which again gives me pause about modifying another nice old gun.
Another issue is finding a quality repro bayonet adapter that's been difficult. Photos are provided in order to encourage comment.
Not sure if the compensator is factory or added later.
Photos included to encourage for comment.
Thanks
edit: barrel measures 28" with compensator

East Taylor Bayonet Adapters
Well, wouldn't you know East Taylor just began accepting new orders for their adapters....so I ordered one for the Model 12 with a 4 row 19 hole shield. That being said I still intend to continue to go forward with the above prototype flats and will post results.

Trench Gun Magazine Plug Question
I acquired this magazine plug with the bayonet adapter several years ago. I didn't know why the holes didn't seem to match the end of the M97 Riot magazine but I think I just discovered it may be for a M97 solid frame Trench Gun....if can someone could confirm it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Magazine Plug & Heat Shield

Flat Heat Shield Prototypes
There's is no one locally that can roll the the flat heat shields. I thought there'd be a reasonable chance but no luck, at least not here. One particular prospect with a machine shop that I enjoyed meeting was also a military firearm collector. He understood what was needed but the final cost of everything wasn't doable. I haven't given up yet but regrettably the idea will need to set aside for now.
