Tula M38
The fellow I got my hex receiver M44 came into a few more goodies one of which is a 1944 dated Tula M38. He also has 1943 dated M44's. He's looking for $250.00, U.S. for each. I'm liking the M38 and wondering if it's worth the investment. Whats your thoughts????-SDH:sos:

It's a very reasonable price for those guns, though some lucky people find them by chance on department store racks in the US for $80. Most guys are either not that patient, or not that lucky :)

Sounds like a go to me, thanks Claven2. I kinda figured you'd know more about them than do I- M.T.SDH

Found mine for $65.99 2 years ago. Buy it... you know your just going to end up with it anyway

Tula didn't exactly make many M38's in 1944 as the M44 had already been adopted ;) 1943 M44s were made in numbers of 50,000 or less. I imagine a few were lost to combat ;)

Claven 2 is right, however I do recall seing a picture of an M44 with the bayonet mount removed and called an M38....
Oh yeah, here it is:

Look at the pictures under the front sights, right next to "Soviet M91/38"
Perhaps this one is a modified M44?
That price sounds steep. Here is a link from one of my "I wish I could buy from" sites:

Nope. M91/38's are all built on Imperial era M91's and dragoons, not on WW2 era M44's.
