Cheers,

Thanks mine appears to be real. Why would someone go to the trouble and cost to make a fake when the cost of an orginal is not that high?
A real "EW" safety will fetch a great deal. I don't believe any of the listed safeties are real. If there is one it would be the first one listed. If it is on eBay or GB and is anywhere near the central west coast, it is fake. ;)
$$ GREED $$
Kick out a 100 @ say $50 each= $5,000
No real overhead to speak of once the fake "EW" stamp is made.
The harder to find marked ones bring bigger dollars yet.
Glad yours is real,

I happen to have one of George's EW not "EW" marked safeties in my junk box. saving it to remind me not to do business with George.
I have an original 5.6 Win with push safety, the "EW" is larger and sharper struck than any of the fakes shown. A genuine would probably fetch close to $100. Consider those are probably Chinese cast parts costing George about $1 apiece, he's making a killing at any price.
1st gunbroker example ia a fake? Looks like mine. Ebay examples really look fake. All the positive feed back for the seller.
The feedback issue has always bothered me but look at it this way, the seller never really makes any claims of originality, authenticity or it being genuine. How do you leave negative feedback when you can't gripe because it isn't what it's claims are? Plus, there are a lot of people that will not leave negative feedback because they don't wish to cause waves.
Authentic “EW” safety. Right?

It sure looks good to me.
Here is another pic of one I know is real, unless George was selling to the CMP last year.
If I sold a fake to 100 people and they all thought it was legitimate, what do you think that the feedback would say? This individual is a crook and is mentally ill because no one can do this much crime, involve his family and have a clear view of what they are doing. This is just the same as taking a .38 special, putting it to your head and demanding your money: it is crime on a small, easy to ignore scale. This guy should have been in prison a long time ago. This has been going on for years and this dope should be in jail.......but he gets favorable feedback.
I've never met him, but would love to just kick his worthless ***.
except mine has a stamped Hemphill.

My safety is also an "EW" but is in with it facing right.
Dave,
Flip it over and let us see that "EW"
Charlie, freakin' George must have made those himself with hand stamps. Even the Chinese do better work than that!
Here's a nice BIG close up view

Dave,
Bad angle, hard to see, is that an SW oiler?
Here's my 5.6. No EW. Good sign or bad ??
DaveHH, your 5.6 looks a lot like mine 64541xx, and my 56687xx.
They look really identical, don't they? A very knowledgeable guy thinks it may be original complete down to an AU Underwood recoil plate as there is a close one in the CC files just like it with the same RP. Does yours have the Type 5 TH (oil hole)?
Yes Jim that is an SW (in a circle on the cap) oiler. It was on the carbine when I got it decades ago. I've used it and shot it as a camping gun and shooter. But now that I know what it is, I've bought a SG NPM as a utility gun and put the Win away.
Both are original as far as I know, and both have the T5 housing w/oil hole. Like you, I rarely shoot these. I have several others that I take to the range.
My how times have changed. I can remember buying push safetys in the 80s from Sherwood for $3.00 apiece. I would always buy them 10 at a time and they always sent you 1 or 2 that were marked. Most of the time it would be a "EW". But sometimes something else. Bythe way these were original, not the later fakes. I guess fakes have been around since the original NOS dryed up. I haven't paid to much attention M1 Carbine parts for a while. I remember they were everywhere at the Tulsa Gun Show in 1997. Some better than others, the best I saw were some type 1 bands. They looked orig. except the screw heads were made wrong. The marking looked 100% correct, most of the others didn't. But the bands weren't tempered correctly, they were to soft.
I have a 5.7 Win all correct EXCEPT repro push safety. Even paid Frodawg big $$ for T2 band. Does anyone have a REAL push safety to sell? If so, please PM me.
Just to clarify, if its marked EW, it must have the quotes, in addition to correct letter size?
