1) The bolt is mis-matched to the gun, but seems to be WaA623 BNZ bolt out of an earlier rifle. No picture of the cocking piece to verify if matched to the bolt body - if that matters to you. The right bolt would have no guide rib and a late-war cocking piece, for starters. Incidentally enough, I have a BNZ 45 bolt body in my parts bin.
2) I'd want to see closeup pics of the tang. It\s proud of the wood & I\d want to know if it's been sanded on.
3) I'd want pics of the trigger guard and floorplate. Is the follower stamped or milled?
4) Is the stock or handguard serialized in the channel? Could go either way. If serialized, do the numbers match? Odd to see a lam hg on a walnut stock.
5) Rear sight base seems salvaged off a pre-war gun.
6) Is the rear sight rough-mileld and unmarked and unserialized on the underside?
Claven, you dont miss a thing!!!
I didnt even notice the handguard being of a different finsih!
At the end of the war, they were starting to use GEW 98 parts and reject parts in the rifles, so an earlier site base could be ok (it looks to have Weimar era waffenampts, not Nazi). It should still have matching # bolt. The rear site as a whole looks almost too clean. Ask for pics of the back of the site. A laminated hg on a walnut stock in 45 wouldn't be too out of wack to me. Look at this website Late War . com He has pics of all original 45 date kriegs on it. He is also good at answering q's from people - ask his opinion. I wouldn't pay big $ because of the problems evident from the pics.
