Hi all,
What is the correct stock for a Remington 1903? Also the correct butt plate? Is it the same tight checkered buttplate like the Remington 03a3?, Or is it a smooth buttplate?
I appreciate your help.

Give us a serial ## range
correct buttplate would be smooth, R marked on the underside.
stock
grasping groove, RLB marked.
of non grasping groove, RLB or FJA, depending on the date.
serial number range is 3,081,xxx
The rifle has a smooth butt plate, and a C stock. The stock has no visible cartouches. It looks like it was sanded and or refurbished, non original. But everything elso no the rifle I think is correct.
Thanks all for info.
C stock would not be original or correct for a 1903...nice to shoot though.
Yes. Thanks. The little "R" appears inside the buttplate trapdoor. I'm thinking everything is original with the exception of the stock.
The correct stock for your Remington, S/N 3081xxx, would have a straight grip, would not likely have grasping grooves, and would be marked "RLB" on the left wrist.
The correct buttplate would be a smooth milled buttplate marked "R" inside the cap.
Hope this helps.
