"C" tip sling with "advanced and decorative" design tips - WWII original??

I have a "C" tip sling that looks legit to me, but after reading through an old post on the subject, now I'm wondering. https://www.milsurps.com/showthread....ght=decorative I'll post a couple pictures and see what you guys think. Are these the "advanced and decorative" tips they were talking about in that post? Then to make it even more complicated, I bought one just like it (in almost brand new condition) at a gun show this past weekend for $15. The tips appear identical (but new) on the sling I just bought. If there's interest, I can post some pictures later of the "new" sling. - Bob

I've not seen any like that before on original slings.
They have been making repo slings for a very long time. Accessories is not my strong suit, but I would say repo.

From what I've read, I was thinking it was repro and then I showed it to the most knowlegable guys I know at a local gun show and they said legit. The "new" one looks almost like a "repro of the repro." Either that, or since it has some flaws, it was a reject of the first run (repro or legit). Notice the bright green "elements" in the weave of the "new" one - and also that the "C" tips seem to have the same marks on them made during the forming of the part. The "new" one has the RAU Fastener information printed on back of the snap and the "old" one doesn't.

When I started collecting in 1979 there were repop slings at gun shows.

Unfortunately, they're reproductions.

I'm all done buying repro slings for awhile! :banghead: Hopefully, I've learned my lesson - actually traded a 1st Generation Colt SA for the worn sling. I was having trouble getting the cylinder to turn - still had a few rounds in it too.

Look at the weave, look at the shape of the C clip ends. Compare to others you see.
