Although that photo is photoshopped, they do actually exist. They are called the "obrez" and were used in the Russian civil war.

That video is even painful just to watch it. I can't imagine firing it myself.
I've seen these things before. They are real. I wish these things were on the surplus market....I would definately buy a couple:)

I wouldn't think it would be much different than firing a Contender.
First time I fired a Super 14 (w/old style wooden grip) Contender in 35 Rem, I thought- NO MORE!
Pachmeyer grips and Mag-Na-Porting made it OK.
I don't think that firing the above Mosin would be very pleasant, but at least the cocking piece is large and rounded.
if the bullet strike didn't deliver a killing blow the flame would finish the job!
No kidding, killed and cooked with one trigger pull!
