Just added a L39A1 UE69 A336 to my collection. It's in very tidy condition with Heavy Hammer Forged barrel, correctly marked 7.62 Magazine and Parker Hale Peep sights which I guess were original.
Fantastic accuracy and shoots like a dream.
Be interested in any history?
Rifle No 516 was dispatched to Northern Ireland Police on 24th March 1977.

Hi Simon
Can you run a search on:
L42A1 D70 (1942 M47C) S/N E1926
Thanks
Mike
We must await Simon's deliberations, but I'm sure he won't find it. I've just had a look at numerous photographs kindly sent to me by an Australian pal of that rifle. As the seller admits it might be, it isn't right. For a start it doesn't even have any body pads (ever) fitted, & has been fitted with commercial mounts & scope. It is marked B 1942, not M47/C 1942 in reality, as one would expect. The engraving on the receiver side wall is also too large, & it bears an Aussie No1 Mk3* (H) T type cheekpiece.
Apart from that it's just dandy!

I was excited until I got the pics. Probably a good 7.62 range rifle but not a L42A1
Hopefully no one will be caught up buying it as a legit L42A1
Ok, skip that one Simon, its a non entity.
Thankyou Roger for info and Paulseamus for follow up
Simon a very thoughtful offer to fellow owners. I would appreciate any information re the following.
L39A1 serial number A1103
L42A1 serial number Q36409
Many thanks in advance
I'm "En vacance au Normandy" at the moment but will reply when I'm back in the same country as my notes.
Cheers,
Simon.
Hello Simon,
Brilliant service. Any information on a L39 (in 7.62) serial number UE69A240 would be much appreciated. It was sold to me as an ex RAF target rifle.
Best wishes
