What sling would have been used on a 1950 Longbranch ? Would they have utilized their old stock of unissued WW2 dated slings or was there possibly a production run with 1950 dates ?

I don't recall seeing any 1950 dates. There would have been scads of slings left over. We were still using them in the 70's.
Believe it or not we didn't try to match slings with rifles. A sling was a sling.
I don't recall ever bothering to even look at the markings on slings, which we mostly obscured with blanco anyway.

Armourers fix them with what they've got on the shelf and quartermasters just dish out what they've got on the shelf
I've seen many of the Canadian Patter 1937 web slings with WWII dates and the post war Canadian Tech services inspectors mark on them. There must have been plenty available at the time. Finding them now is getting increasingly difficult.
