Rc k98
I'm not sure if this is hte right place to post this, but I could use some help on this decision i am trying to make.
I have been looking for a k98 to go with my WWII bayonet and p38, and i found one on gunbroker made in 1938. After several messages back and forth between me and the seller, we managed to figure out that the rifle is a Russian capture, since there were mismatched parts and the number that has bee placed on hte left side of the stock. the only matching numbers were the barrel and receiver.
there is no "x" on hte receiver and there is no shellac on the stock or pen marks. it even come with a front sight hood and cleaning rod and hte blueing looks extremely good as well. the man is selling it for $599 and what i want to know is if he is asking for too much or if i get it since it looks in good condition?

IMHO it's a little steep for a Russian capture. The metal finish is not bluing on a Russian capture it was redone by the Russians in some kind of black finish.

thanks for letting me know. I think the man would lower the price more, but he's selling it for someone else and won't allow the price to be lower than that

Have your guy call the seller to see if he would lower the price or just make an offer and see if the seller will sell it at your offer price. Depends how bad you want the firearm, there are a lot of RC98's out there to buy.

I would guess the bore is not very good. Rifle looks a little abused to me. Recently re-blued? Not sure.
