Agreed Ed....extremely nice rifle and he certainly is asking the $ for it !
May be worth the recycled mag / furniture, no more !
Agreed, then what about "Field Repair" ?? Perhaps something much more minor was repaired ?
+1. $350 would be an excellent price for a 1950.
Best.
For my money.....definitely go for the M91 Tikka.....all else being equal, far more value added...a rarer model, wood has character, and as Patrick has already noted...the barrel !!
Cheers.
What a great find ! Congrats.
Yup, Canadian marked ring ! Unfortunate that value has been degraded by the park....
+1. Absurd price !
Thanks Brian. The 'proof' is indeed in the pudding !
Cheers.
I believe that they are listening Peter.....that's likely why you got the 'request' for assisstance from someone in the first instance. And, IMHO it's a good thing that most are listening. For the...
Outstanding job !
Looks like a wood blemish. Aren't the Isshy screws typically further forward (to the muzzle end) about 1 - 1 1/2 inches, or so ? Certainly, the few Savages / Long Branches I have with the screw...
Resist the temptation and just walk away !!
Cheers.
va6yag,
Sounds like you have a regular Long Branch (sported) which at some point in time went through a rebuild, i.e. FTR, meaning Factory Thorough Repair. This was a fairly common post-war British...
Muffet,
Ok, but where is the 'junk' ?
All look good to me. Thanks.
Cheers.
Addendum: Still had the brass Oiler and pull through in the butt ! I do believe that they were both originals....certainly 'period' if nothing else.
+1 Tiriaq. I just turned up a nice 1903 'sported' MkI*...too bad the barrel has been shortened....otherwise quite nice and intact. A relic nonetheless !

Enfieldman,
Although I own several K98s, I haven't purchased any lately, so am not so conversant with current pricing, etc.... I do note, however, that there is a thread on the Mauser rifles here...
You may be fishing in the wrong pond here Enfieldman. That is just to say, that being an Enfield guy, you are more conversant with their relative values....maybe what you really need to do in an...
That's quite impressive looking Steve. I would say go with 'black' !
Cheers.
Don't forget, you may add your new 1950 LB S/N to this survey Thread : Do you have a 1950 Long Branch?
Cheers.
Hi GT,
The '43 Savage S/N should be "30C8174"....the 'C' denoting Savage production.
Best.
Limpetmine, I'm missing something.....was this rifle advertized as a 1950 LB ?
Great deal ANZAC !
