I thought it was an early 38 sight at first, too. But this sight isn't dovetailed like all other 38 sights I've seen.

I'm not even sure that the front sight is Jap manufactured. I'm beginning to go along with seabot's suggestion that it may be a Chinese configuration...
That's the thing..as I understand it, and correct me if I'm wrong, there was not a Nagoya series 5 T38 rifle, yet this is a rifle stock (apparently) and the inventory number matches the inventory...
Notice the finger grooves, they taper going towards the muzzle. It's an odd one alright.

This one isn't...
The last two No5s I had, had these punches. I would love to know what they meant myself....
I would LOVE to post pics. Of this and the mystery Type 38 carbine I have. But have no way of doing it right now..if there's any way I can Email pics to someone and have them post them, that would be...
Picked up a Nagoya Type 99, no series yesterday. Mum is partially ground, every number matches. Cleaning rod is present, and every screw on it is staked. It also sports the oval 'quick release' rear...
Unfortunately not. Computer is fried, don't know when I'll be getting a new one.
If anyone could give some pointers on how to post pics from an IPhone, it would be much appreciated.
Geez, I must be losing my mind. That is indeed Kokura or Koishiwaka.
Yep, it's straight...couldn't see it at first on this phone!
Yeah, if I can find out how to post pics from my phone. Definitely think this one bears taking a look at.
Picked up an odd one this weekend. At first I thought it was a Type 38 rifle that had been converted to a carbine. Then I got it home, disassembled it, and found that that it was not.
Here's the...
Cut down Type 38 carbine. Nagoya arsenal. There should be a series number to the left of the serial number. Looks like the bolt handle has been turned down, can't really tell from the angle of the...
This weekend I picked up two Type 38 rifles. One is a ground mum Kokura Series 26, all matching. The other is a Koishikawa(?) Tokyo arsenal, no series number. Mum is intact. I suspect this is a true...
Picked up a Finn 'capture' 1938 Tula 91/30 this weekend. It has the Finn stacked front sight. Two things got my attention about this rifle. One, the bolt is blued. After a little research, I...
That's the most unique firearm I've seen in a while. Pretty darned extraordinary, thanks for sharing!
Not to mention it's an LSA. Not a whole lot made. Think you'd be glad to leave this one be!
Nossir..I got out right before all this fun began.
That P14 is definitely one of a kind!
Great rifles, ezesar! If you don't mind me asking, who did you serve with?
I know. I'm going to have to get my friend to get some on here for me. I am currently computerless. Hopefully will have some on here in the next couple of days.......
If that's the case, it's an extraordinary coincidence, as the bolt has the Terni logo on it as well.
This rifle has a marking on it that I'm trying find out about. Over the 'Terni' is a circle (oval?) with two lines on opposite ends, as if someone drew a line through the circle, then erased the...
I managed to find today a 1917 Terni M91 rifle with matching bolt and receiver. By far the filthiest rifle I have ever come across. By dirty I mean filled with dirt and long dead bugs. No kidding....
