Jim, many thanks but Harlan has what i need.
Harlan, Pm on the way. Looks like you have a real nice collection. I still have a question or two about mine and will put them togather shortly. I see a strap around the helmet covers; is it...
Harlan, many thanks for the detailed informatiion. I'm still reading and rereading all of it trying to digest it all. I'll have a try tomorrow at taking some of the crown of the liner but don't...
Jim, I have some new pics on Picassa and can find them to email but cannot find them when I use the "manage attachments" thing on the forum. If you email me your email I can send them to you. I...
Jim, thanks for all your help. I bought a used headband with the black clips off Ebay and the chin straps for the helmet that you previously found for me. After cleaning the helmet yesterday with...
Jim, PM sent
Jim, if you have that left chin strap, or both sides for that matter, I'd be glad to pay you for them. Meanwhile I'll go shopping for a headband. I've already taken the net off as it isn't...
BAR: thanks for the info and offer of help on the chin strap. I've since been surfing and found some more info about the helmet and liner:
The pot itself is marked towards the front with a "2 ...
Good info; hadn't noticed the snaps. Took liner out and examined it again and there appears to be a mark in the top, very small, looks like a W with a II or 11 out beside it and perhaps a...
Found this at an antique bike show for $35 but don't know anything about helmets. Its missing the left prong hook on the chin strap and also the leather sweatband. Otherwise its pretty decent. The...
Thanks for ref. Found that one thing mine needs is the hook that goes on the buckle...not what I called an "A" catch above. Don't know diddly about helmets but saw this one at an antique bike show...
Harlan, today I picked up a GI steel helmet with liner, web netting like I used to see on WWII helmets over the steel pot, lining has para chin strap, etc. Its missing the metal "A" catch? and...
And what Inland serial number range would be correct for that stock?
Went to Lowes just to browse fasteners and i think window latches might work well since they are the type things that can be tightened. Won't buy anything till I get them set up and see what I need....
Rustship, when you initially pictured the two racks togather, I liked them so well that I emailed Scott Jones, the guy that makes them, and asked if he could make the "rear" rack taller to give it...
He later worked with Remington, developed and patented, a 22cal system that shot shorts/longs/long rifle. The rifle was a 550, or something similar. His patents are on the barrel.
A bit more on Carbine Williams, much of which I wrote about a good while ago. Maybe some new readers will find it useful. The above pictured M1A1, along with a signed Remington 22 that CW had...
What is "Un-Quality"? I know Underwood made lots of barrels for Qual Hdwr but not sure what this thread is about.

Heres an M1A1 "signed" by Carbine Wms. Owned by friend with massive provenance.
US Armory has them. Measure the Wolff spring, if too long, cut off to 10 1/14 in. Works fine in mine.
Thanks for the pics. Am looking to buy or build something similar that will display 6 carbines when I do a gun show. I've used the standard type rack with guns upright on both sides, but they...
Rustship: very nice and at less than $30 a very good buy. Which size opening/width did you get? Could you post a pic with a carbine in it?
Thanks.
Look inside the mag well.....it might have a "U" in there. Underwood marked theirs that way rather than on the outside like other mfgs.

I'm running this also on the CMP forum in case some folks don't read both forums.
This band came from a fellow in England who took it off a carbine...
Paul, beautiful display. I'm curious; how is the rack made that holds the carbine at that one place? Some sort of hidden clamp? Any chance of a close-up pic? I occasionally do a show and would...
