Have a look at soda blasting, it is what car restorers use to clean metal ,it will take off rust but is very kind to sound metal, follow up with a light polish should make it look the part.

Roger, don't bead blast them , to clean them find someone with a soda blaster, they use this for cleaning off car bodies when they restore them, the soda blast is a lot kinder and won't remove any...
